November Netball News from the USA!
I know a lot of you have started making your way to Los Angeles for the most prestigious and largest Netball event in the USA - the 2016 U.S. Open Netball Championships TM.  

Safe travels everyone, and get plenty of rest as you have 3 days of some great events and experiences.  Great news though, you will all get an extra hour sleep on Sunday November 6 as California Daylight Saving finishes so clocks will wind back one hour at 2am.  Be sure to read below for important event updates.

As we bring the USA together for Netball, it's always great to welcome new members who see our vision and want to be a part of this exciting journey to introduce Netball to Americans.  Welcome to another CANA member - Club Allyanze!
Welcome our New Members Club Allyanze from New York! 

Club Allyanze, Inc. was founded on September 08, 2012 as a netball and social club and membership is diverse and dynamic ranging in age from 9 to 55 years old.

As a 501C3 non-profit organization, Club Allyanze, Inc. is fully committed to community outreach and involvement. In 2015, they
launched their Annual Back to School Drive, and also donated to and
participated in the 2016 Making Strides of Brooklyn Breast Cancer Walk.

Coaches Workshop with Vicki Wilson

Only 2 spots remain for the coaches workshop on Friday Nov. 4th from 10am to 11.45am.  This is your opportunity to learn from one of the best in the world.  RSVP now.

The workshop for players will be held on Friday Nov. 4th from 6pm-7.15pm at El Camino College, 16007 Crenshaw Blvd, Torrance, CA, 90506.  RSVP here.

Friday Welcome Reception

After a long day of coaching, umpiring and players clinics join Vicki Wilson and the rest of the U.S. Open participants for a drink and hors'doeuvres in the Valencia/Sevilla Ballroom on the ground floor of the Embassy Suites, LAX South, 1440 E. Imperial Ave, El Segundo, CA, 90245 from 8pm - 9.30pm this Friday November 4th.

No need to RSVP. 

 

Umpire, Bench Official & Rule Clinics


From 3pm - 4.30pm on Friday Nov. 4th join Clare McCabe, IUA and Jeff Persson, Netball America VP of Officials for a great session on the new netball rules, the various forms to be used by teams and the bench for the U.S. Open as well as your chance to ask those technical rule questions.  You can submit any questions in advance here.  This event is being held at the tournament hotel, Embassy Suites LAX South.

Following this will be the practical session from 5pm - 6pm at El Camino College, South Gym.

Venue Location, Transportation & Parking

Teams are responsible for their own transportation to/from courts and to any of the events.  The driving distance from the hotel is about 15 minutes, so if teams don't want to rent a car, then uber/taxi is approx. $20.

The tournament is being held at El Camino College (North & South Gyms), 16007 Crenshaw Blvd, Torrance, CA, 90506.  Download a copy of the venue map.

El Camino College Event Parking:
- $3 Cash Only (No Change, must have exact change!)
- Pay Box and Parking Lot open 24 hours
- Campus Police available at Lot K

We have secured discounted hotel parking at $20 overnight (redu
ced rate for US Open attendees), parking during the day at the hotel for teams to check in/attend umpires clinic and reception etc is free.

The full time umpires & volunteers who are staying at the event hotel will have transportation to/from courts provided, however they will need to follow the instructions for airport arrival/departures.

Free shuttles to/from the airport to the event hotel. Call +13106403600 (available 24/7). Wait at the hotel shuttle pickup area and hop on the 'green' bus that says Embassy Suites LAX-South.  Be sure to get on the 'green bus'.

Upcoming Events

World Out Games
Registration is now open for the World Out Games in South Beach, Miami May 26 - June 4, 2017.  

This event is open to everyone over the age of 18.  The focus of the event is human rights, and we're proud to have Netball included for the 1st time in this important global sporting event.  We encourage all Netball teams globally to consider sending a team to help give Netball the recognition it deserves for both men, women, and co-ed netball teams.

NYC Department of Education Teachers Netball Day

Tuesday November 8th is not only election day, but a day for the NYC Public School Teachers to get together for their bi-annual Netball Mentoring and Education Day. 

 

Boston Netball Event

March 2017 will see a big netball event with Boston teachers for 3 days. 

 

Where will the 2017 U.S. Open be held......stay tuned.....as it will be the 10 year anniversary of this prestigious event!
