U.S. Air Force Academy's mascot, "The Bird," stopped by the DMV2GO RV to see about getting a driver license before the football game against The University of New Mexico - UNM on Nov. 12. While the DMV2GO Team couldn't issue the mascot a license, they helped dozens of Coloradans.

DMV2GO offers tips, issues documents before Air Force Academy football game against New Mexico

The Falcons weren't the only winners on Nov. 12 as the Air Force Academy thrashed University of New Mexico Lobos, 35-3.
| |
|
Football fans needing to DMV were winners, too, thanks to the DMV2GO Team's deft problem solving and keen customer service skills.
Before the Falcons bested the Lobos, DMV2GO was issuing documents and answering fan questions, all while challenging passersby to don DUI goggles and walk the line -- a challenge many readily accepted.
"It was so much fun," DMV2GO Manager Desiree Trostel said. "Being able to go out and serve people in their element is fantastic and people are very appreciative, too -- even if it's just getting information or asking question."
The DMV2GO Team served dozens of customers and even issued 10 credentials.
Trostel said the event's success depended on her team's willingness to work on the weekend, and their flexibility to work almost anywhere in the state.
DMV Team Members who helped at the game were: Bianca McCarl, Kathy Davis-Cowger, Christy Rossetti and Felicia McKee.

DMV touts Historic Colorado Contest as deadline looms
| |
As the Historic Colorado Contest nears its submission deadline, DMV Team Members have been working to get the word out.
Recently Vehicle Services Director Adam Wilms and DOR Arts professional Lucy Holtsnider visited the Colorado & Company show to talk about the Historic Colorado License Plate Design Contest.
Wilms and Holtsnider discussed unique aspects of the contest and also talked about the DMV's work with Shelton Elementary School third-graders.
Colorado residents or students interested in participating in the Historic Colorado Contest need to submit their entries before Nov. 30 to qualify.
The Historic Colorado Contest gives residents and students a shot at designing Colorado’s 150th anniversary license plate, plus $1,000. The contest is accepting submissions until Wednesday, Nov. 30 and has two divisions — 13 and older, and under 13.
Up to 10 finalists per division will be selected by a committee with a final, public vote on the top three designs. The winners will get huge bragging rights, the DMV will feature the artists in all media releases and the winners will each receive a special commemorative license plate and a $1,000 grant.
Entries will be judged on how well the artwork captures Colorado and its history, the artistic quality and its originality, and how well that design translates into becoming a Colorado license plate.
The Historic Colorado Contest is free to enter and each participant must enter their original artwork. Coloradans interested in participating in the Historic Colorado contest can visit DMV.Colorado.gov/HistoricColorado for complete information, terms and conditions, and templates for drafting submissions.

Colorado Launches Driver License and State ID in Apple Wallet
On Nov. 9, the Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) announced the launch of Colorado ID in Apple Wallet, providing an easy, fast, and secure, digital version of their state-issued driver license or ID card.
New Driver Handbook, including audiobook version, available in the myColorado app
|
Coloradans have another way to access the Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles’ (DMV) new Driver Handbook.
The latest edition of the Driver Handbook is now available in the myColoradoTM app as an English audiobook as well as English and Spanish digital versions.
The DMV publishes the Driver Handbook as a manual to help soon-to-be motorists learn how to drive safely and lawfully on Colorado roadways.
Having access to the Driver Handbook via the myColorado app is yet another way the DMV is acting on its commitment to providing Coloradans with many options in how they want to DMV.
Coloradans can access the Driver Handbook in the myColorado app on their phone. To view the handbooks and access other DMV online services, tap the Services tab and select myDMV - Colorado DMV Online Services. An internet connection may be required.
The Driver Handbook is also available for download online at the DMV’s website in English or Spanish, and can be listened to as an audiobook on Youtube, Amazon and Podbean. As always, Coloradans have the option to print the 32-page handbook if they prefer a physical copy.

I am very thankful for being alive another year. I am super thankful for my family and friends who have always been there for me when I was in need the most. During this last year, I was promoted to a new position and my team has been amazing. This team at the Denver NE DLO has been so welcoming and now we are all best friends haha. I appreciate everyone and I'm super thankful for my family and my team. Thank you all!
Karen, Assistant Manager at DLO
I am thankful for my amazing husband, daughters & son, our furbabies Yoda and Darth Vader, my new extended family and my work family at Pueblo DLO.
Jessica Stone-Rodriguez, Tech III Pueblo DLO
I am so incredibly thankful for my family, friends and the freedom that is afforded to us in this country. My wife and I celebrated our 37th Wedding Anniversary, we are thoroughly enjoying our three grown children (Eric, Emily and Elyssa), and we were "over the moon" happy when we celebrated the arrival of our seventh Grandchild this year. That brings the total to 6 Granddaughters and 1 Grandson who have certainly been a source of much Joy. We are also very fortunate to have a group of supportive and close friends that really invest in each other. You cannot do life on your own. ... It is definitely a team sport!
And, I cannot fail to mention my work friends as our Team has created a very supportive environment where we strive for excellence, but do not expect perfection from each other. Finally, the freedom that is afforded to each of us within this great country of ours is something that I take for granted many days! We are so fortunate and if we really understood how much we have in relation to others in this world, we would walk around with huge smiles all day long! The "Attitude of Gratitude" is alive and well in our home. It is very contagious and a great way to live each day! Very hard to do many times, however it is an excellent way to "Reframe" the many challenges in this world! I wish we would have a "Gratitude Pandemic" very soon!!
Bob Emeott, AST Operations Manager - Driver Control Section
I am so very thankful for my family. I am so grateful to be able to be a servant to the constituents of Colorado. It is so rewarding to witness and be part of such a dynamic State!
Diane Johannsen, Manager at DLO
My husband an I are in our 60s and just purchased our first home. Each day I spend here since we moved in a month ago feels like a dream. I never in a million years thought I would ever own my own home and am so thankful. Life takes us down many paths, some good and some not so good but everything has a purpose and everything came together to allow us this gift. We look forward to family and friends gathering together with us here for many years.
Cynthia Barnes, LECC Data Specialist
I am so very thankful for my beautiful little family. My daughter is my whole heart and my best achievement! I love being a Mommy above all else. I am also very thankful to be healthy and happy.

Meet Emissions Admin. Asst. III Nicky Faubion's furrypassengers -- Impi, Shadow and Thula!
| |
|
My name is Impi, which means infiltrate and conquer.
I am the little brown dot in between my brother Zulu's legs. I am a Miniature Pinscher.
Sadly, my brother passed over the rainbow bridge just a month or so ago and that made mom and dad very sad.
I, and all of my 7 pounds, are now the BIG DOG of the family. I am 18 and a half years old and I like to sleep a lot.
My mom rescued me out of a dumpster some 11 years ago.
| |
|
I am Impi's little sister, Shadow. I am a Bombay cat. Mom and dad rescued me as well.
When I was just a couple of months old they saw me on the security cameras every night looking for food, which is not easy to come by in the dead of winter in the mountains.
I fought off foxes and mountain lions until I decided I would never make it outside and mom said "come on in." She looked and looked for my people but nobody was looking for me so Mom said I could stay.
Back then I was skin and bones, but now I weigh 15 pounds at almost 3 years old! I like to roll Impi and Thula!
| |
|
I am the newcomer to the family. My name is Thula which means Silent in Zulu.
I am a Calico. Mom said that would be a good name because I have no voice. Just like Shadow I just showed up and after a week trying to tough it out on my own, I decided that this house looks like a good forever home.
Just like my siblings, Shadow and I still have our moments. I love to spend my days next to Mom when she works. I am 1 year and 11 weeks old because my previous people told Mom so and they did not want me.
I am mischievous and climb on everything. I also like to play hide and seek with Shadow. I can walk on a leash just like my sister Impi.

Take 5 with Anwar Vega,
Glenwood DLO Assistant Manager
| |
|
What is your position and how long have you been with the DMV?
I am the Assistant Manager of the Glenwood Springs DLO. I was here for one and a half years, and left but couldn't stay away. I've been back for about 6 months.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I enjoy spending time with my 5-year-old, Adonis. He keeps me in shape, actually more tired and out of breath but he's well worth it.
If a genie granted you three wishes, what would you wish for?
1. Lifetime of unlimited pizzas from all my favorite pizza spots.
2. To have the ability to travel anywhere in the world whenever I choose.
3. To have all customers bring in all necessary documents to be issued a License/ID 😁😁
What’s your favorite TV Show (or book)?
Any show that I can binge watch from beginning to end, and any and all stand up comedy
What's the best thing about working for the DMV?
The thing I think is the best about working here is my Team. They are so amazing and we all get along. It makes coming to work something to look forward to. People have thought I was crazy for loving to work at the DMV. I always explain to them that we just have to make it fun and help as many people as we can.
