City Adds Smart Flow Meters to Improve Sewer System

The City works to continuously improve and modernize our infrastructure and service delivery. One such improvement is the addition of four flow meters to sewer systems near the Alvarado Basin. These meters are set up on the underside of manhole covers and use sonar to measure pipe flow. Data is transmitted to an online platform for real-time access by city staff, aiding quick responses to potential overflows, preventing sewer spills. New meters in strategic areas guide future sewer system improvements for optimized service to residents and businesses.
