Can you believe it's November? Not sure where the past year has gone, let alone the last six weeks since I began my Chamber adventure.

Now that Halloween is over, we will all be rushing headlong into the holiday season. We have many craft bazaars & activities happening in Sweet Home in the next two months. My hope is to cover as many as possible in the newsletter.

The Sweet Home Parade of Lights is scheduled for December 10th. However, we are waiting on the permit approval before we launch participant registration.

Faster Internet Oregon
The Faster Internet Oregon speed test campaign is a statewide broadband mapping effort for Oregonians to report Internet speeds or a lack of connection at home. The Faster Internet Oregon project will provide decision-makers with data that will:
  • Identify Oregon homes that lack high-speed Internet
  • Clarify which households don't have an Internet connection and why
  • Provide cost estimates and assess competitive viability of a variety of technical solutions for areas with identified gaps.
This campaign will help secure infrastructure funding across the state and ensure the funding is equitably allocated so that everyone has access to fast, affordable Internet service. Please help us identify Oregon's areas with the greatest need for high-speed broadband by using this link: www.FasterInternetOregon.org. It takes less than 1 minute!
Hut Raising
When: 11/5/22 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
On Saturday, November 5th there will be an old fashion "Hut Raising" at the Sweet Home High School Construction yard, located off of 18th Avenue. At least 15 huts need to be assembled before the site can open on December 1st. To accomplish this goal, we need your help. We need painters, laborers, people who can operate a screw drill and anyone that is just willing to help raise these huts. Tools and instruction will be provided.
If you can spare a few hours of your time on Saturday, November 5th we could certainly use your help. If you can help out, please email Larry Horton at drlarry_horton@yahoo.com

Habitat for Humanity
Local Habitat for Humanity announced their home build for the McMahon family. They are looking for people to chip in to show the strength of this Giving Tuesday fundraising drive, where 100% of the proceeds will go toward building materials to make that wish come true. This is a crucial time to show they are continuing not only to keep people in their homes via the Home Repair & Preservation Program but beat housing shortages in our area. Please consider adding your donation as an individual, small business, or corporate sponsor this holiday season. All proceeds go directly to the McMahon home build. Donate Online
