Virtual Farm Tours Farm tours, like many events, have gone virtual this year. In place of their annual event, Dufferin Farm Tour created a great video showcasing 11 different farm businesses across Dufferin County, and hosted a viewing party on their original tour date. They have since received a 2020 Award of Distinction for the video from the Canada Shorts Film Festival! “Of course we’d rather have the doors open, hands-on, with people coming to the farm,” shares Jeanette McFarlane, Dufferin Farm Tour committee member, “but in a year where we couldn’t do that, we’ve been able to actually expand our reach with this video, deliver on all of our mandates, and we actually found a lot of success.” Learn more on our blog.

Food Literacy for Students Act

A private member's bill that is aiming to bring experiential food literacy education to every grade level in Ontario schools has passed its first and second readings in the Ontario Legislature. MPP Daryl Kramp, who introduced the bill, shared in this article: "I’m encouraged by the phenomenal reception we’ve had from across the political, personal, private and industrial spectrum. From the health sector to education and agriculture, we’ve had an outpouring of strong encouragement.
