The Adirondack North Country Center for Businesses in Transition seeks a chamber of commerce, educational institution, partnership or economic development organization to provide assistance with the implementation of a strategy of outreach and education to retiring business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs. The applicant organization will be a strategic partner in ensuring successful transitions for three target business audiences; those looking to sell on the open market,
inter-generational
family transitions and conversions to an employee ownership model. All proposals must be received by Friday, November 9, 2018 no later than 4:00 p.m.

RIT helps students take an entrepreneurial gap year to make business ideas flourish
Brandon Hudson, a Rochester Institute of Technology student and CEO of
Connexus
, is taking a gap year to focus on growing his company with help from a new program at RIT.
Hudson is the first student selected for the Gap Year Entrepreneurship Fellows Program, which allows students with an ongoing enterprise to take a year to focus their full attention on the venture. As students develop their companies, they will receive $15,000 in support and mentoring from experts at the university, all while continuing to make progress on their RIT degree.

NYSTEC/IGNITEU to set up shop at Griffiss
More than 20 years after being formed to help cope with the closure of the Griffiss Air Force Base and the loss of jobs there, a not-for-profit consulting agency is coming home to Rome on the grounds of the former installation.
Elected and economic-development officials on Wednesday held a ceremonial ground-breaking on a 32,110-square-foot office building that will be the headquarters of ny state technology enterprise corp., known as NYSTEC. The $85 million project is the work of NYSDEC and the Griffiss Local Development Corporation, the agency formed to oversee redevelopment of the sprawling former long-range bomber base.
NYSTEC will occupy about half of the building with the rest open to lease by other companies, some of which have already shown interest. It’s at 99 Otis St., the southwest corner of Otis and Hangar Road near the Air Force Research Laboratory, known as Rome Lab.
