Dear Holy Name Families,
Yesterday and today, our second graders presented their Native American dwellings. Students researched one of three tribes: Powhatan, Pueblo, or Sioux. After learning about the culture, family structure, and lifestyle of one of the tribes, students constructed a model of their dwellings. It is one of my favorite days of the year to see the second graders present their work. While I appreciate the creativity of their projects and admire the confidence they display when they present, I enjoy the class comments the most. After each student presents, he or she can call on a classmate to ask a question or make a comment. Students almost always opt for a comment and it is always a positive one commending their classmates on a job well done.
Today the 6th grade visited Rose's Bounty for a day of service. They sorted and packed food to be distributed at today's food pantry there. Their diligent work will help 200 families in need. Thank you to Mr. Gordon, Mr. Reilly, and Mrs. Beatrice for organizing the trip and to Fr. Denis and the parents who volunteered to chaperone.
Our food drive ends next week. This collection will benefit the Backpack Program at Rose's Bounty. Help us meet our goal!
With the short week next week, the next Weekly Update will be on Friday, December 1st.
Enjoy the Sock Hop. Have a great weekend.
Best regards,
Mr. Chisholm
