Our Lady Plot Prices Are Increasing

Plot Price Increase Begins July 15th

Despite inflationary pressures, Our Lady has maintained burial space prices since 2020. However, starting July 15th, the cost for plots at Our Lady will increase.

Due to office closures for the July 4th holiday, Michelle Jones, the Director, has extended the deadline to purchase reserved spaces until August 15th for those who reserved plots before January 1, 2024. Post August 15th, these spaces will revert to inventory. Spaces reserved January 1, 2024, or later, will be held for the 90 days as agreed upon.

Our Lady offers a one-year interest-free payment plan. Spaces in the Marian Garden and St. Francis Garden are sold out except for reserved spaces and spaces for sale by families who have moved and/or no longer have a need for them. The Holy Family Garden has minimal space for sale by the cemetery at this time. Now is the opportune time to secure your reserved spaces or to release them.

Many thanks!

Nick and Ellen Brumder

Garden Pests - Chiggers and Fire Ants

Our Lady is doing all that can be done to keep the fire ants from spreading and chigger infestation to a minimum.

Fire ants live in colonies, preferring to build the mounds in open, sunny areas. After heavy rain or watering, numerous mounds will pop up because the ants are trying to move out of the water-saturated soil.

With the current and excessive high temperatures, fire ants tunnel deep into the soil to find cooler temperatures and water, causing their mounds to be unnoticeable and making it seem as if the ants disappear. Caution needs to be taken when stepping near monuments, mulch and vegetation.

Chiggers are active from late spring to fall in most parts of Texas, but they can be active year-round in southern areas.

Chiggers are most active in the afternoon and after grass is mowed. When out in vegetation, keep moving, because the worst chigger infestations occur when sitting or lying down, especially in sunny spots at midday when temperatures are above 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Chiggers are most active in afternoons or when the ground temperature is between 77 and 86 degrees. Right now, when the temperatures rarely fall below 75 degrees until Midnight in Central Texas, chiggers are busy a long time.

There are several insect repellents that provide long-lasting protection against biting insects like mosquitoes, chiggers, and flies, allowing you to enjoy the outdoors and activities without interruption. Be sure to apply repellent as soon as you step out of your car and before you walk the grounds to visit your loved one at Our Lady.

REMINDER - Plot Borders and Maintenance at Our Lady

Be Kind to Your Cemetery Neighbor

Our Lady has recently received calls from individuals concerned about neighboring plots infringing on their loved ones' burial spaces. Most plots at Our Lady are four feet by ten feet and ten inches. Please be respectful of your cemetery neighbor’s burial space when landscaping your “mini garden” for your loved one.

Any ornamentation on each space in the cemetery belongs to the family of the loved one. Please be mindful not to remove or disrupt any item on someone else's space. Children should be supervised to ensure they do not disturb any plot.

Our Lady’s Rules and Regulations were established to keep our cemetery pristine and lovely. Often, it is visiting family members or friends who are not aware of the cemetery’s policy. Please share and communicate these guidelines with them.

A BEAUTIFUL VISION – Rules & Regulations Addendum

Your loved one is resting in a place of natural beauty.

Our Lady of the Rosary Cemetery & Prayer Garden was designed using the European model. Nick and Ellen Brumder heard the calling and conceived this dream in 2004, the year of the rosary. Pope John Paul II sent his blessing in a letter. This cemetery would be “natural” – reflecting the seasons of the year; each season showing its natural beauty: the dryness in Winter, the new beginnings of Spring, the brightness of Summer and the changing in the Fall. This is our life’s cycle too.

Hence, we are asking each family, their relatives, and friends to comply with the following. As a benefit, our grounds can be better maintained and when opening/closing graves there will be less damage to adjacent gravesites.

  • NO Boarders including plants/flowers
  • No Rocks
  • EXCEPTION: Forest Garden can have Rock Borders and Rocks on the interior of the space
  • NO Solar Lights
  • No Yard Art (spinning birds, garden globes, etc.)

  • NO Hanging Baskets

BIRTHDAYS

We invite you to celebrate your loved one’s birthday ON the day of his/her birth. Please use our picnic area located near the pond in the tree area behind the KIOSK Information Board. Happy Birthday helium balloons are permitted but will be removed once they become deflated.

The staff wants you to know that we care for your loved ones and their burial plots, and we ask for your thoughtfulness and understanding when we remove non-compliant items from the burial plots. We also understand death and grieving are difficult times for families, and we pray for your peace of mind and heart.
