Notice on Behalf of Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) is advancing the development of a new American Legion Bridge and expanding multimodal transportation options along the I-495 and I-270 corridor. As part of this initiative, MDOT SHA will conduct field work in Virginia to gather data and identify environmental features. The scheduled field investigations include:

  • May 30 (rain date: May 31): Visual drainage investigations within existing VDOT right-of-way along Live Oak Drive in McLean.

  • Weeks of June 10 and June 17: Bathymetric survey to assess depth and underwater features of the Potomac River.

Project staff will access sites from Live Oak Drive and be dropped off and picked up to minimize disruption to the community. During these times, you may observe staff along Live Oak Drive, within nearby VDOT right-of-way, on the Potomac Heritage Trail, or in the Potomac River.

For any questions or concerns, please contact the American Legion Bridge and 270 Corridor project team at 410-637-3300 or 833-858-5960, or email ALB270@mdot.Maryland.gov.
