HONOREE TESTIMONIAL

"Hello. My name is Justin Swaim. I was diagnosed with Relapsing-Remitting MS is in July of 2010. I was 28 years old when I was diagnosed with this disease. Fear was my first emotion when I heard those two words from my doctor. This diagnosis came one month before my wedding day to my high school sweetheart, Melissa. Luckily, since my diagnosis, my treatment of this disease has been going well. I still have poor balance, still have chronic fatigue, and still take a needle a day. Above all, Melissa, my love, has been my saint through this all. Her support for me is the only thing that keeps me going. I will stay hopeful and look forward to a cure for this annoying disease soon. I know the world is close with the help of the National MS Society." Message from Event Host - Tracy Tomchik Nyszczot:
This program is particularly special to me because...I encountered MS first at a very young age. In the 1980's, I watched my childhood friends, two young sisters living in my neighborhood, as their lives were forever altered by their father's diagnosis and fast decline. Each day was left to chance as this family dealt with the unpredictability and the devastating effects of the disease...and two girls lost the playful whimsy of their childhood. Back then, there were no medications and I was a young girl, thinking that there was nothing I could do to help; however, I grew up determined to later support this cause. Now, I am an adult with fundraising experience -- ready to make a difference!
A couple of years ago, two peers were diagnosed with the disease, I feared the worst for them -- healthy young men, in the prime of their lives, as well as, their families and friends -- who would never be the same. Shocked as any 20-something would be to hear a friend had been given such a diagnosis, I wasn't sure how to help. In support of those who I've known with MS over the years, I joined the National MS Society (NMSS) events, walks and online resources. Soon, I realized that there had been much progress since the 80's. I received updates, learning about new medicine, treatment options and promising research, helping those with MS. Plus, I saw firsthand that my friends were being positively affected by the work of the NMSS. So, when nominated to join the MS Leaders Circle, this was a mission I had to accept with honor! And I hope you can help us to reach our goals.
JOIN THE GREAT NORTHEAST FIGHTS MS!
Sincerely,
Tracy Tomchik Nyszczot
