Sunday July 16th

The sower from Sunday's Gospel reading scatters seed everywhere, not just on good soil. Perhaps we need to worry less about where we are sowing and just get busy sowing some seeds! Where are we in this story?

What kind of soil is Norval United Church at this point in history?

Watch Sunday's Service Online, Live @ 9:00 AM EDT

You can find the online service on Facebook Live or on our YouTube channel.

All are welcome to come and join us. Tell your friends and neighbours.

We will have tables set up for folks to eat, or you can take your food home.

Save the dates for the rest of the summer's Food Truck Events @ NUC.

We will also have a bake sale with treats for humans and treats for dogs! All proceeds from the bake sale go towards COPE- an organization that works with service dogs. https://www.copedogs.org/

Another epic week at camp! Week two was filled with fun, excitement and excellent weather! A big thank you to our special guest, Erica, from Scientist in the Schools for a fantastic workshop about rollercoasters.

Catch us next week for our week three theme "We Are Heroes".

This summer, Magdalen Van der wijst is working for the United Church of Canada as a Climate Motivator. What is a climate motivator? Glad you asked! The UCC has developed this program for youth to work with their local congregation to

bring awareness to climate change issues and help the church become more environmentally friendly.

Magdalen is working on some exciting projects including painting a mural in the youth room and building a heart/pollinator garden on the church grounds.

She has also adopted an animal through the World Wildlife Fund to be the camp mascot.

You may have already heard about or met Puff the Puffin. Puff was named by our week 1 campers and has been teaching them about the climate and his habitat and has been encouraging them to do their part to take care of our beautiful planet. You might notice that Puff has signs around the church with little tips, including tips about how to compost & recycle. These will stick around even after camp is done. We are also hoping that Puff will help keep us motivated through out the year to continue caring for our environment in creative ways.

You can learn more about the Climate Motivators program here

In an effort to raise funds for the NUC Summer Camps we will be raffling off a gorgeous king sized quilt. The quilt was donated by Debora and David Venning.

We continue to meet virtually on Wednesdays for 30 minutes of reflection and meditation. You're welcome to join on zoom.

We'll be taking a break in August and resuming on September 13th. In the month of August you'll see a weekly post on our website with a self guided Mid Week Breath.

Volunteers needed!

For many of us, Norval United Church’s warm welcome is one of the main reasons we came back after our first visit.

You can help carry on this fine tradition!

Join Jen Stinson and George Smith as we live out our faith in God’s radical hospitality by welcoming all who attend on Sunday.

If you can smile and say “welcome” you are qualified! Volunteer 1, 2 (or more!) Sundays a month on this great team!

Can You Help?

A wonderful Ukrainian family that was supported by the Easter Basket Brigade is hoping to move to Milton to be closer to work/school and looking for rental housing

Ideally they are looking at paying around $2,000 per month and would like to find a place ASAP as the other family that they were living with is moving to Toronto.

If anyone has any connections to assist them please contact Timothy Chisholm.

Food Donations Needed

Now more than ever, our local food bank needs our support. There has been a significant increase in the number of people who use the Georgetown Breadbasket.

You can help through monetary donations or by donating non-perishable food items.

We will have a bin outside the church office to collect donations. Please see the link below to find out which items are needed.
