Welcome to Rev. Craig Donnelly this Sunday

Jen Auger and Heather Power will be attending the Horseshoe Falls Regional Council meeting from May 24th to 26th as part of their work with the wider United Church. We wish Jen many blessings as she is commissioned into Diaconal Ministry at the Celebration of Ministries service on Saturday afternoon in Port Elgin! This Sunday, May 26th, Rev. Craig Donnelly will lead our worship services while they are away.

Craig's connections to Norval include a collegial friendship with Heather, which first began when they worked together at Eglinton-St. George's in Toronto. Many years ago, he also played golf with Paul Ivany, and he still refuses to comment on who was the better golfer. He is currently enjoying his first year of retirement after moving back to his hometown of Orangeville. Please join us for worship and extend a warm Norval welcome to Craig!

United Church of Canada

99^th Anniversary Celebration

Join us June 9th as NUC hosts all four Georgetown United Churches as we celebrate The United Church of Canada’s 99^thAnniversary and look ahead to 100 years! Guest speaker, Rev. Robin Wardlaw will reflect on the UCC’s rich history and how we today will move into the centennial anniversary year with deep spirituality, bold discipleship and daring justice.

Our 10 a.m. service on Sunday, June 9^th will include special music and participation from all four churches. We hope that you will join us for a great celebration together!

Singing in Celebration

Carolyn Maule will be leading a mass choir as a part of the June 9th celebration. Join us for rehearsals here at NUC on the following dates and times:

The Trunk Sale on May 25th will also feature a Bake Sale! We are looking for folks who can make some delicious goodies.

Treats will need to be pre packaged and delivered to the church Friday May 24th so they can be priced and ready to go for the next day!

Coming up for Pride Month:

Sunday May 26 and Sunday June 2

Join us after church for a movie and discussion with the Affirming Ministry Team

We will be watching 1946: The Mistranslation that shifted Culture; a feature documentary that follows the story of tireless researchers who trace the origins of the anti-gay movement among Christians to a mistranslation of the Bible in 1946. It chronicles the discovery of never-before-seen archives at Yale University which cast significant doubt on any biblical basis for LGBTQIA+ prejudice.

We will watch and discuss this 90-minute film over 2 weeks, and the AMT will provide lunch. If you’re interested in learning more about LGBTQ experience, including the history of religious-based discrimination, please plan to stay after church for about 1.5 hours.

Norval United is planning to march on Sunday July 14^th in Pride Halton's Pride Parade! The parade will be from 2-3:30 PM on Main Street in Milton. If you want to join us let us know by contacting Trudy or Adrienne and we can arrange to carpool from the church. Let us know if you need any accommodations to participate. Let's show our pride!
