STEM Club News

We are happy to announce that the Northwood School STEM Club began participation in the VEX IQ robotics program this spring. VEX IQ is a national organization that uses robotics to foster education in many aspects of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. We will take participating students to a regional robotics competition during 2024-2025 where they will have a chance to collaborate and compete with students from other schools. You can learn a lot more about VEX IQ robotics by doing a "deep dive" into the web pages starting at https://www.vexrobotics.com/iq.

In these videos our Northwood School STEM Club members are diligently working with their "Treasure Hunt" robots. After the design, building, programming, and testing are completed the robots will sort blocks by color (red, blue, green or yellow) using a color sensor, then move blocks of one single color into a scoring area. This project will be one of many that will help them learn important skills needed to create a successful robot

News from Kindergarten

We have wrapped up kindergarten teaching time. These past two weeks we have learned how to play UNO, craft hugs and keychains, learned how to draw foxes, and make slime, and sugar cookies. It was wonderful watching our kinder-teachers grow and learn as they took on a leadership role within our classroom! Great job, kids!

We hatched 18 baby chicks after three weeks of caring for our classroom eggs. It was sad to see them leave to go back to the farm, but we know that they had to go home.

2024 Literary Magazine

Students are invited to submit original writing to the literary magazine, which will be published at the end of the year. Students may email their poems, stories, plays, or essays to their classroom teacher or to Ms. Carloni.
