Introducing Neffie, a new mobile resource store and library for NISD educators

Northwest ISD teachers will soon have the ability to "shop" for free classroom supplies and resources right outside their schools! The Northwest ISD Foundation launches Neffie, a mobile version of its resource store and library, next month to provide district teachers with free supplies. So far, NEF has already saved teachers more than $500,000 through the store.

The mobile store will stock several top items used by district educators and visit schools on a regular schedule, beginning on September 10, saving teachers time from having to visit the physical store.

To learn more about the Northwest ISD Education Foundation’s programs – including teaching grants, student scholarships and the resource store – visit nef.nisdtx.org. You can also check out the NEF News section that is always featured in Northwest News. To donate to the foundation, view this page.

NISD calls VATRE to prevent cuts to student programs

To offset a lack of state action to address school funding, Northwest ISD has called a Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election for this fall. If approved, the nearly $16 million in funding generated from the 3-cent tax rate increase, all of which would be exempt from state recapture, would be used to prevent cuts to student programs and continue to retain and attract top staff. Optional Chromebook/laptop maintenance plan available for secondary students

As a 1-to-1 school district for laptops or Chromebooks at the secondary level, every Northwest ISD middle and high school student has the opportunity to use these devices frequently. If you would like to protect your child’s district-issued device, NISD offers an optional $25 maintenance plan to offset any student/family costs should damages be accidentally caused by your child.

This plan costs $25 for the school year and covers half the cost of any repairs. The plan must be purchased within the first 30 days of school, or 30 days from the first day of enrollment for those who started later in the school year. For more information about the optional plan, click here. Families can purchase the optional plan through SchoolCash Online.

Help restock immediate needs in the NEF Resource Store and Library

NISD teacher in NEF store

The Northwest ISD Education Foundation’s resource store and library provides support to NISD teachers and students through free resources and educational materials. NISD teachers can “shop” for school and classroom supplies, snack packs, books and more. All items are free to district educators! Already this year, more than 700 teachers shopped the store!

You can help by donating from the store’s online wishlist. Immediate needs include crayons, tissues, disinfecting wipes, books and 1-inch binders. You can also help by volunteering in the store! Volunteers help sticker and prep inventory, restock shelves and fulfill online requests from teachers.
