September 2023 Parent Bulletin

Welcome back, Tiger Family!

We are excited to have our scholars on campus each and every day! This month, we have great things happening on campus, from our Grandparents’ Day Breakfast to celebrating Hispanic culture during Hispanic Heritage Week the last week of September. Our scholars will take their beginning-of-the-year assessments in math, reading, and science, allowing teachers to see how students are progressing. Please continue encouraging your scholars to do their best!

Our athletic and extracurricular programs are in full swing! Students are showing their Tiger pride and practicing for the upcoming competition. Athletic schedules will go out this month, so please come out and support our scholars.

“98% is Great” is our attendance motto, so make sure your scholar is at school each and every day. Please take the time to read over our Arrival and Dismissal Procedures in the Parent Reminders section in the bulletin.

The 21st Century After School Program will begin Monday, September 11th, and operating hours are 3:30-6:00 PM Monday-Friday. We are currently taking applications. A Parent Informational Session will be on September 7th from 6:00-7:00 PM.

Our campus is ready to take on the 1st semester by providing rigorous academics while instilling our CREW values. With your support, we know your scholars will flourish.

Growing Students with Excellence, Every Day!

Visit the Counselor's Corner

Hello Parents,

I am the new school counselor at the Northshore Campus, and I wanted to take the opportunity to introduce myself. I currently hold a master's degree in Counseling, with this being my second year serving as a school counselor. Learn more about my experience and goals for your scholar on my website here.

Please join me for Coffee with the Counselor, as this is a great connecting opportunity for you and me to get to know one another. We’ll discuss some very prominent topics concerning mental health, support systems, and, most importantly, our scholars. Plus, we're rolling out a few programs that will enable the scholars to receive great incentives and be successful throughout the year, such as PBIS, perfect attendance, and more.

I am open to answering any questions you may have as well. Please find the meeting details below, such as time, date, and Zoom link information. I hope to see you there 🙂.

Tyesha Taylor, M.S.

PARENT PORTAL ACCESS FORM

Attendance:

Attendance Matters Every Day! - TEXAS STATE LAW REQUIRES A WRITTEN EXCUSE FROM THE PARENT OR GUARDIAN WHENEVER A STUDENT IS ABSENT FROM SCHOOL.

To change an absence to an excused absence, a parent note or doctor's note must be received in the attendance office no later than three days after the student returns to school. If a note is not received, the absence will remain unexcused (students who miss 10 or more school days may receive an attendance behavior contract and could be subject to compulsory attendance laws). A phone call does not take the place of a written note. Notes can be submitted to Ms. Rocha at jrocha@rhodesschool.org.

As a reminder, school starts at 7:55 AM, and your child is tardy at 8:05 AM. They must be signed in at the front office if you arrive after 8:05 AM. Three tardies are equivalent to one absence, so please bring your scholar to school on time.
