November 2023 Parent Bulletin

Greetings, Tiger Family!

As the leaves begin to change and the temperature drops, I know that fall has arrived, and we have been busy. In October, we celebrated Red Ribbon Week, Book Character Day, Unity Day, SLEDs, and completed our first round of district-based assessments. This month, we have so much in store, from World Kindness Day, our Thanksgiving Family Luncheon, Anti-Bullying Week, and our Annual Day of Giving.

This year, we are Moving Full STEAM Ahead on November 9th for our Annual Science Fair. Join us for hands-on family fun as we recognize our science fair winners.

Our goal this year is to increase our scholars’ passion for reading, so don't forget about our reading challenge. The drawing for the prize will take place on November 15th, so encourage your scholars to read and complete the book information forms provided by their homeroom teacher.

This nine weeks, our teachers are working diligently to prepare our scholars for their campus-based assessments and upcoming projects. The projects will focus on incorporating STEAM and relevant real-world learning. In our efforts to improve student success, we are asking that you have your scholar study each day and complete all homework assignments.

Let's show our Tiger pride as we cheer on our boys' flag football team as they compete for Regional State champions on November 11th at Rice Stadium.

Great news! Our community garden is ready for harvesting, and we appreciate your donations to make this project a success. Students will plant various fruits and vegetables and learn how plants grow and develop.

Parents, continue to discuss with your scholars about giving 100% each day and demonstrating CREW qualities.

We had a great three months of school, so let's continue to progress and make great strides together.

Growing Students with Excellence, Every Day!

Hello, Parents and Guardians,

I hope all is well. This is the month of Thankfulness. Let’s take some time and reflect on the things we are thankful for!

This is also the month of Kindness. I will be rolling out SEL on kindness to promote exercising this character trait within the scholars ' day-to-day interactions. Having or showing a tender, considerate, and helpful nature, used especially by persons and their behavior, can go a long way. The goal is for our scholars to witness the benefits of this trait and share it with others.

Parent Portal Help:

Can't access the Parent Portal to see your scholar's grades or attendance? Complete the form below so you can receive an email to activate your account.

PARENT PORTAL ACCESS FORM

Attendance:

Attendance Matters Every Day! - TEXAS STATE LAW REQUIRES A WRITTEN EXCUSE FROM THE PARENT OR GUARDIAN WHENEVER A STUDENT IS ABSENT FROM SCHOOL.

To change an absence to an excused absence, a parent or doctor's note must be received in the attendance office no later than three days after the student returns to school. If a note is not received, the absence will remain unexcused (students who miss 10 or more school days may receive an attendance behavior contract and could be subject to compulsory attendance laws). A phone call does not take the place of a written note. Notes can be submitted to Mrs. Harsiton at shairston@rhodesschool.org.

As a reminder, school starts at 7:55 AM, and your child is tardy at 8:05 AM. They must be signed in at the front office if you arrive after 8:05 AM. Three tardies are equivalent to one absence, so please bring your scholar to school on time.
