December 2023 Parent Bulletin

Greetings, Tiger Family!

Tis the season to Be Jolly! Can you believe we have almost completed one semester of school? We have accomplished so much along the way. In November, we held our annual Science Fair, Thanksgiving Luncheon, and a campus-wide fundraiser. Our focus this year has been academics, community, and communication. As a campus, we are invested to continue implementing systems and ensuring your scholar's success.

Scholars will take their 2nd District Benchmark Assessments December 5th-8th for Kindergarten through 6th grade in all subject areas (Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies). During testing, we will have a closed campus. Please make sure your scholar is on time and ready for the day.

The PreK- 2nd Christmas Program, “The Candy Cane Holiday Express,” will be held December 20th at 1:00 PM at the Anderson Center for the Arts (formally HCCAC). Come and enjoy as our scholars travel around the world celebrating Christmas traditions.

Our Annual Christmas Production, Beauty and Beast JR, will be held at the Wortham Theatre on Thursday, December 21st. I am excited to see our scholars showcase their talent through dance, acting, and music. Please purchase your tickets soon before we sell out.

Our 12 Days of Christmas begins December 6th and runs through December 21st. The flyer is attached below with details of each day. Let's make this a fun, festive time by allowing your scholars to participate.

Classroom holiday parties for PreK-2nd grade will be held on December 21st and 3rd-6th grade on December 15th. Teachers will provide more information about the party details. Our PTC is excited to sponsor some fun family time with our Pajama Movie Night. See the flyer for more details.

From the RSPA Northshore family to yours, we wish you a Happy Holidays!

Visit the Counselor's Corner

Hello, Parents and Guardians,

Tis is the season!

So, let's take some time to reflect on giving and joyfulness!

This month is also the month of caring and kindness. I will roll out SEL lessons on kindness/caring to promote exercising this character trait within the scholars' day-to-day interactions. Having or showing a tender, considerate, and helpful nature, used especially by persons and their behavior, can go a long way. The goal is for our scholars to witness the benefits of this trait and share it with others.

Be sure to join me for Coffee with the Counselor on December 6th!

Tyesha Taylor, M.S.

Northshore Campus Counselor

Character Trait for November: CARING/KINDNESS

We're so proud of the Northshore Tigers and what they have accomplished this season. Last season they only won two games and this year they claimed the division champs trophy and played for the championship at Rice Stadium. Kudos Coach Hector Flores & Coach Andrew Hutchinson, on a job well done. We appreciate your hard work!

Parent Portal Help:

Can't access the Parent Portal to see your scholar's grades or attendance? Complete the form below so you can receive an email to activate your account.

PARENT PORTAL ACCESS FORM

Attendance:

Attendance Matters Every Day! - TEXAS STATE LAW REQUIRES A WRITTEN EXCUSE FROM THE PARENT OR GUARDIAN WHENEVER A STUDENT IS ABSENT FROM SCHOOL.

To change an absence to an excused absence, a parent or doctor's note must be received in the attendance office no later than three days after the student returns to school. If a note is not received, the absence will remain unexcused (students who miss 10 or more school days may receive an attendance behavior contract and could be subject to compulsory attendance laws). A phone call does not take the place of a written note. Notes can be submitted to Mrs. Harsiton at shairston@rhodesschool.org.

As a reminder, school starts at 7:55 AM, and your child is tardy at 8:05 AM. They must be signed in at the front office if you arrive after 8:05 AM. Three tardies are equivalent to one absence, so please bring your scholar to school on time.
