Note from the Principal

April 15, 2024

Welcome North Families,

Well, Forward Testing became an extra special adventure this school year.  We would like to thank all of our families and our students once again for demonstrating such flexibility as we responded to the obstacles that arose.  We know our students understand the importance of this test and want to do their best, so changes in plans can be frustrating for all.

Handling the stress, weight, or pressure of wanting to perform to the best of their ability is an important and challenging skill to develop.  Approaching an important performance too casually, whether it's state testing, a music recital, or a big sporting event, can result in students not maximizing their performance.  The other end of the spectrum is true as well, too much stress can lead to underperformance.  Helping our students vocalize their thinking prior to and following these events helps them metacognize their thinking about their thinking.  Reflecting on what thinking influenced high performances and what thinking influenced poor performances helps students feel more in control of their outcomes.  Learning these skills can be important keys to students' success in school and beyond.

The Optimist Club of Menomonee Falls sponsors an annual recognition program called, "The John Weaver Do the Right Thing" award. The goal of this award is to recognize students for their good character: kindness, compassion, empathy, support, honesty, friendship, humanity, and respect.

North Middle School teachers were proud to nominate Saahas Mahajan, Logan Albright, and Oscar Garcia for this award. Great job!

Jakob is always helpful and respectful to his classmates and me. His leadership in class has been great. His effort, participation, and positive attitude have been wonderful all year! Keep up the good work!

Jakob K. - Nominated by Mr. Tischer

Madison is incredibly kind, focused, and understanding. I often have less time to interact with her because she is so independent and driven, and she deserves more praise than I often give!

Anna not only does a great job academically in social studies she also does a fantastic job

leading by example! Keep it up!
