Nonprofits play a vital role in meeting needs and improving the quality of life for individuals, children and families in our communities. The State of the Nonprofit Sector Report provides an overview of nonprofit organizations serving Charlotte, DeSoto, Manatee, and Sarasota counties. The goal of this summary report is to:



  • Highlight the vitality of the nonprofit sector 
  • Inspire donors and funders to give and volunteer 
  • Encourage nonprofit collaboration and public-private collaboration 
  • Inform our communities about opportunities and challenges

Community Dashboard Trainings

One Remaining Learning Session

Data gives us the opportunity to better understand the lives of all our community members. It helps us be data-informed, inclusive, and equitable in the ways we seek to increase child and family well-being as part of a strategic 2Gen-informed approach.


Join us for a training on the Community Indicators Dashboard. The Dashboard provides insights for philanthropy, nonprofit organizations, businesses, government, and learning institutions to guide informed decisions utilizing data from reputable sources set in local context.


What You'll Learn:

  • Dashboard data points, interactive charts, maps and visualizations related to county profiles, education, economy, health, and housing
  • Discuss ways to use the Dashboard for program and service development, grant applications, building awareness with stakeholders, research, content development and more
  • How to download content and embed them to reports, communications or grant applications

Give 8/28 Returns August 28, 2024

Registration Opens June 19, 2024

The Young, Black, & Giving Back Institute (YBGB) will host their seventh annual Give 8/28 giving day on August 28, 2024. Give 8/28 promotes financial giving for Black-led and Black-benefiting nonprofits.


Nonprofit registration opens on Juneteenth every year. Interested in participating? The Community Foundation of Sarasota County will kickstart the giving with a $250 grant and cover your organization's $25* registration fee. 


*This fee helps the YBGB cover costs associated with running this event and supports the Give 8/28 initiative.

Impact100 SRQ

Apply by July 17, 2024

Founded in 2018, Impact100 SRQ brings together a diverse group of women that annually fund transformational grants to local nonprofits in both Sarasota and Manatee Counties. 


The grant application eligibility form for the Impact100 SRQ 2024 grant process is now open. Eligibility forms are due by July 8th and the grant application is due by July 17 at 12 noon. Organizations apply in one of the five focus areas: Arts, Culture & History; Education; Environment & Recreation; Family; or Health & Wellness.
