The Gallery at 3517 West Sunset is proud to present "NO SUCH PLACE" a solo exhibit featuring photographs by David Walega.

All images are black & white silver gelatin prints is are printed by hand in the dark room. Each photograph is a contact print made from placing the negative directly onto the photographic paper and exposing it to light. 

In this series, Walega employed ultra wide 4"x 5" and 8"x10" wooden pinhole cameras. By using a wooden camera the exacting power of a glass lens is lost as are any preconceived notions of sharpness. The final result is a mystical and sometimes abstract reflection of reality.

Usually working as a photojournalist these pinhole reproductions not only are a change from the usual but also serve as a more meditative approach to image making.
