No Appointments Needed to Visit

LA Animal Services Centers

Los Angeles, June 22, 2023 – No appointments needed to meet your new furry friend! Starting Wednesday, June 28, Angelenos may visit any of the six LA Animal Services Centers with no appointments needed to adopt or foster a pet or if they would like to have their animal companion microchipped. Center hours will be 8am to 5pm, Tuesdays through Fridays, and 11am to 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays. City shelters will be closed on Mondays and City-observed holidays.

“We hope that with our Centers now operating daily with no appointments needed will encourage more people to stop by and meet the amazing dogs, cats, rabbits, and pocket pets who are available for adoption,” said Annette Ramirez, Interim General Manager for LA Animal Services. “We continue to ask the community for their help to adopt or foster a pet as the number of animals coming into our shelters continue to outpace the number of pets we are able to find homes for or place with rescue partners.”

Dogs and cats adopted from LA Animal Services join their new families already spayed or neutered, vaccinated, licensed, and microchipped. Adopters also will receive a Petco flyer with discounts to help make their pet adoption a success; and a VCA Healthy Start Certificate, which provides up to $250 of follow up veterinary care within the first 14 days of adoption. In addition, canine companions adopted from LA Animal Services are also eligible for free dog training classes at the Paws for Life K9 Rescue People & Pet Innovation Center in Mission Hills, CA. Contact Info@pawsforlifek9.org for more details.

Options to Surrendering a Pet

Please reconsider surrendering your pet to a shelter as our six shelters continue to operate at critical capacity. LA Animal Services offers alternative solutions to help keep pets and families together, that include Safety Net Foster, Home to Home, Pet Food Pantry, and helpful resource guides. We also work closely with intervention groups who will provide assistance with pet retention. If relinquishing your pet is the only option, appointments are required by calling 888-452-7381. Sick or injured animals will be admitted without an appointment.
