Feldman for DA
Ethan Feldman

Welcome to the second edition of our newsletter. If you did not receive the first one, it can be found HERE.

It's official! On Friday, April 13, the 18th Judicial District Democratic Assembly was held in Pueblo. I was formally voted the Democratic nominee for District Attorney for the 18th Judicial District. I would like to thank all of the delegates from Arapahoe, Douglas, Elbert, and Lincoln Counties for their support. Here's a link to the News Release (Click Here).

There was also a very nice article in the Villager newspaper (Click Here).

I will be the sole Democrat on the primary election ballot on June 26. The Republican field of 4 candidates has been narrowed down to two and they will face each other in the June 26 primary. But it doesn't matter to me. I am running for the office of District Attorney, not against someone else. My message will remain the same: I stand for positive change that will promote community safety and protect victims in a non-partisan, apolitical manner.

Campaign Update

As I said, the primary election will be June 26. Although I will be the only Democratic candidate for District Attorney on the primary election ballot, it is still important that you take part in that election. The most compelling reason is the general principle that it is good for our democracy to have maximum participation in our electoral process. It is also important to this campaign since a good showing of support from voters in the 18th Judicial District will lead to more support.

It is now time to formally kick off my efforts to introduce myself to the general electorate. I am confident that the citizens of this District take their voting responsibilities seriously. I believe that they will vote for the most qualified candidate regardless of party if they have enough information to make an informed decision. So, how do I get out that word? You can help me in several ways:

  • Forward these newsletters and the Feldman for DA website  to anyone you think would be interested in having more information about this election.
  • "Like" the campaign on Facebook.
  • Follow the campaign on Twitter and re-tweet.
  • If you belong to service clubs or HOA's, see if you can arrange for me to speak at a meeting.
  • If you are aware of community events that welcome candidates, please let me know.
  • Whenever you see a news item or other mention of the DA's race in a newspaper or on the Internet, please forward a link or copy of the item to me.

In the first newsletter I listed some thoughts to share if anyone asks you about my qualifications or why I'm running for DA. I'd like to restate those thoughts in case you're asked:

  • Lived in the District for the last 35 years
  • Worked in the District for over 38 years
    • Former Chief Deputy DA
    • Criminal defense lawyer for 12 years
    • Night Court Judge for 11 years
    • Arapahoe County Judge for 20 years
    • President of statewide Judges Associations
    • Received awards for achievement as a judge
  • Stepped down from Bench to run for DA after having seen the need for positive change
  • Will keep politics out of the DA's Office
  • Will reduce number of repeat offenders and keep community safer
  • Will improve prosecution with better training of staff
  • Committed to Victim Rights

Volunteers

There are some specific volunteer needs for which I would be grateful for your assistance. There are several events coming up over the next few months. Here are three in particular: Parker Days Parade, June 9; Highlands Ranch 4th of July Parade; and Western Welcome Week Parade, August 18 in Littleton. We would be delighted to have folks march with us in the parades and staff any booths that we set up. Of course, we will need actual physical assistance in setting up the booths. If you know of any other events such as these, please let me know.

We will also be distributing yard signs in about 30 days. We will be looking for yard sign coordinators for specific geographical areas of the District. I'm also going to start walking neighborhoods soon and it would be helpful and fun to have some company as I do so. As the campaign moves along, we will also need some assistance with literature distribution in neighborhoods.

There will be many other volunteer needs about which I will be contacting those who have already volunteered. If you haven't volunteered, but would like to in the future, please feel free to contact us. Of course, I am very appreciative of everyone who has signed up for the newsletter, contacted us, or otherwise supported us.

Thank you! Please let us know if there are other kinds of information that you would like to see in the Newsletter. And of course we would always be very happy to hear from you with your comments or suggestions.
