Blue Stone Arts & Music Festival makes its debut in the City Springs district this month! Stroll along Blue Stone Road to check out the artists and groove to the live music found on multiple stages throughout the 2-day event. 60-Day Continuous Lane Closure for the I-285 Westbound Auxiliary Lane Project | |
Since Aug. 21, Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) contractors have closed Interstate 285 lane sections for 60 days between Roswell Road and Riverside Drive, so crews can begin reconstruction of the Mt. Vernon Highway Bridge. | |

Proposed Allen Road and Lake Forrest Drive Intersection Improvements Open House
Thursday, Sept. 21 from 6-8 p.m. at City Hall. The presentation will begin at 6:15 p.m. Due to traffic and safety concerns, the City is proposing a mini-roundabout. The public is invited to learn more about the project and the next steps involved. The improvements include operational and safety enhancements to alleviate the existing bottleneck condition. Sidewalks and pedestrian access improvements are also planned.

Development Code Update Public Information Open House

Sandy Springs Citizens' Leadership Academy
The City is excited to announce the launch of the Sandy Springs Citizens’ Leadership Academy, a comprehensive and engaging curriculum that will provide participants with an opportunity to meet with Mayor, City Council, and City staff and learn more about local government, civic responsibility, and community leadership. The Academy includes nine sessions over a period of four months covering various aspects of local government. A fee of $35 will be due upon confirmation of attendance. Applications will be accepted through Sept. 15.

Citizens Police Academy
The Sandy Springs Citizens Police Academy allows residents to participate in an up-close study of police operations in Sandy Springs. The 9-week course is designed to give participants the opportunity to get to know the people, understand the training, and offer insights and familiarity to the professionals who hit the streets and protect us every day in Sandy Springs. Sandy Springs Conservancy's Trail Blazer Guided Walk
Sept. 9 at 8:30 a.m. at Hyde Farm
The Hyde Farm Park, located in Marietta just off of Lower Roswell Road in East Cobb, consists of 42 acres of green space and a renovated farm that was established in the 1830’s. The land, farm, and buildings have been preserved as an educational and recreational facility. The guided walk will take an hour. Walks are limited to 25 participants and registration is required

Sunday, Sept. 10 at 7 p.m.
Big Band Classics with Still Swinging! Get ready to hear top-notch performers and an unmatched playlist. And on Sunday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m., Guardians of the Juke Box will take the stage to play their rescheduled show. Free parking is available at the Sandy Springs United Methodist Church Activities Center off Sandy Springs Circle, and the South Parking Lot at the corner of Blue Stone and Mt. Vernon. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. and the music begins at 7:00. Lawn Seating is free. No pets are allowed at this event.

Join us for an event designed to create an opportunity for children with physical and developmental disabilities to have an inclusive experience with the community. Our fall festival will feature an accessible Corn Maze, mid-way games, prizes, light snacks, refreshments, and maybe a surprise or two. Weather permitting.

Geology Walk and Talk
Sept. 28 at 6:30 p.m. at Lost Corner Preserve
The hills and hollows of Sandy Springs, its vistas of the Chattahoochee, and even its name, are tied to its geologic past. Learn the stories the rocks and landscapes tell. Join us for a 45-minute walk followed by the lecture portion in the cottage.

Grab your friends and join our Co-ed Adult Volleyball League for the 2023 Fall Season. Teams will play a six- week season with the top eight teams advancing to the League Championship Tournament. Kids Paint Like Bob Ross
Saturday, Sept. 23 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Hammond Park
Now children (ages 8-12) can also join in on the Bob Ross painting fun! The Bob Ross company recently introduced a kid-friendly line of acrylic paints and smaller paint brushes for smaller hands. Now children can paint happy trees and majestic mountains using the Bob Ross techniques.

· RC-23-02SS – 6405 Riverside Dr. -The property owner proposes a pool, deck, and pavilion addition to existing single-family house. The site is located in Vulnerability Category “D,” with a proposed impervious area of 15,791 square feet and Category “E” with a proposed impervious area of 1,789 square feet.
