The Path of Transformation

New Moon Newsletter

7/15/15

Monthly Newsletter from Linda Heron Wind

The New Moon in Cancer focuses us on clearing the blocks within that keep us from experiencing life with ease and joy. There is a lot of clearing on all levels going on these days and just when you think you are done, you find more "stuff" to clear. So enjoy the process and allow the Moon's energy to help by setting your intention to see what needs clearing.

From Attachment and Suffering to Freedom and Joy

In this time of shifting and changing it becomes easier to see where your attachments are. We can be attached to physical things, people, animals, places, ideas, beliefs, identities, etc. If we use the metaphor of a hot air balloon, attachments are like a tether that keeps us from moving higher in consciousness. The constraint of such a tether causes us suffering - fear that whatever we are attached to might be lost, fear of change, feeling insecure, etc. - feelings that take the joy out of living.

The small self believes that we need to grab on to anything that we think keeps us safe, that we like, or that makes us feel good and hold on for dear life - the recipe for staying safe. The larger Self knows that there is nothing in this physical world that we can grab onto to stay safe. The place of safety is within not outside in the physical world. The small self fears loss while the larger Self knows that nothing real can be lost.

To live in the moment we must let go of attachments that pull us into the past and create fears about the future. Things and people come and go in our lives. When they are present, be joyful in that moment. When they are lost, be open to what the moment brings. In a meditation with some Star Beings last night, they gave me the image of being on a roller coaster with my seat belt securely fastened and waving my hands as I went up, down, and around the turns. The alternative would be to have my seat belt fastened and be gripping on with my hands to the bar. The holding on in that case would be redundant as my seat belt is already keeping me safe. So the message was, "let go, let go, let go!" In this metaphor the seat belt is my inner connection to my larger Self that always keeps me safe. My small self is the one who wants to grab on rather than just fully enjoying the ride. And what is true is that all the grabbing on in the world will never keep you safe if your "seat belt" is not fastened! So what we really need to focus on is keeping our connection with the higher Self, not grabbing onto things.

The more we let go the less we suffer and the more joy and aliveness we can experience in the moment. What are you holding onto? Is your seat belt fastened? Are you enjoying the ride?

Enjoy the wild ride

Attached to nothing except

Your inner "seat belt"

Women's Re-Treat - Return to Yourself

October 9-11 at Light on the Hill Retreat Center

led by Linda Heron Wind and Beth Garrigus

In this time of personal and planetary retrograde, many of us have yearned for a "time-out" - an opportunity to retreat, reconnect, and renew - to pull back from the definitions and demands of everyday life and remember who we are. As we reconnect with Spirit, with our deepest selves, and with the Sacred Feminine that is emerging within and around us, we will deepen our connection with the natural world, meditate, walk the labyrinth, sing, dance, hike, laugh and play. We will revision, realign, and rededicate ourselves as together we weave a path of love, harmony, and beauty - taking our places in the "Great PrayerSong" that is arising in every language for the benefit of all beings.
