NOTE FROM YOUR PRESIDENT

David Karachuk

August 2024

Hi, everyone. It's nearly time to say goodbye to summer. We're ready for fall with more than a handful of exciting events!

We have two half-day Advisor Education Symposiums, one on Thursday, September 12, the other on Thursday, November 14. Between them, we expect to provide 7 CFP CE Credits. We're pleased to be hosting Cozy Whitman of College Inside Track, Ben Henry-Moreland of Kitces Speakers, and Julie Genjac of Hartford Funds with insights from MIT's AgeLab.

On the virtual front, join the next Secrets of Success Advisor Roundtable on Tuesday, September 10, and CFP Ethics on Wednesday, October 9.

If you're interested in sharing your financial-planning expertise in a pro bono setting, AARP is hosting a Financial Empowerment Counseling Day in Manhattan on Saturday, September 28. FPA of Metro New York is looking for CFP® volunteers to provide 15-minute one-on-one sessions.

Finally, we've scheduled our Holiday Party for Tuesday, December 10, at Haven Beer Company in Hamden.

You'll find details below. We're ready for fall. Hope we'll see you often!

Our Keynoter, Julie Genjac from Hartford Funds Applied Insights Team, will speak about the need to extend retirement planning beyond the usual focus on ensuring a client's lifespan doesn't exceed their wealth span. Called Longevity Planning, it encompasses the nonfinancial challenges of longevity including living arrangements, care needs and social & mental activity. You can hear more directly from Julie at Building Your Longevity Network.

Robert Rodriquez from the New Britain office of the Social Security Administration returns to present Advanced Topics on Social Security.

Vincent Hollister, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Coach & Contributor to Psychology Today, will speak on The Psychology Behind Financial Decision-making.

New at this AES, we'll have tables for Sponsors and prepare Bingo Cards for prizes, just like the State Conference.
