Ranu Mukherjee's First Print Edition
|
Ranu Mukherjee's where she can enter history on her own terms, 2024
UV cured acrylic ink on Japanese paper
40" x 30.5", edition varie of 10
| |
|
This is Mukherjee's very first print edition. Follow the link embedded in the photo above to see all of the variations of the print.
"Mukherjee creates a background that is unique to each print in the edition by printing abstract images of activist events onto sari fabric and catching the ink that bleeds through onto the paper. A field of objects – fruits, flowers and birds, swathes of cloth, a megaphone, an ornate table – float atop the patterned ground, creating a dynamic still life imbued with symbolism and serving as an homage to international feminist movements."

Sally Gall's Tailwind, 2024
Jacquard woven tapestry
48" x 72", edition of 5
| |
Magnolia Editions new publications with Artist Sally Gall translates images from her “Aerial” photographic series into Jacquard woven tapestries. These abstract images consist of Gall capturing the natural world of wind, light and sky into amorphous shapes through their effect on drying fabrics. Gall went in search of this subject matter after originally finding it while exploring Sicily. In these tapestries the photographs of fabric drying on clothing lines captured by the artist have once again become fabric.

Mexico born and Oakland, California based artist Guillermo Galindo continues to explore working on found materials from the US Mexico border. These two new pieces are non-traditional music scores; one printed on a tarp used for shelter by immigrants crossing the US Mexico border while the other is printed on a collection on flags sewn together which were originally used to mark water jugs to help immigrants survive while crossing the harsh desert. These pieces were recently shown at an exhibition in Mexico City at Ex Teresa Arte Actual.
