Something from the commissioner...

I hope you are enjoying a break from your weekly meetings and possibly indulging in a chocolate treat or two. Just before the school holidays I know many leaders and girls enjoyed the gang shows at Corby and Wellingborough – congratulations to all who took part – either on stage or behind scenes making sure all the performances were a success.

If you’re planning meetings for the summer term we’ve launched our County challenge badge – Girlguiding in motion – based on the Olympic and Paralympic values – of trying new things, working together and doing our best. There are lots of activity suggestions and links to the guiding programme, I’m sure your units will have lots of fun whilst completing the challenge.

Later in the summer term we have several events just for adults – the first being pottery painting for the Inspire age group, followed by an evening at Stanwick lakes and finally our County Awards evening at Wicksteed Park, pop the dates in your diaries and look out for more details in News and Views.

Girlguiding Northamptonshire are celebrating the Paris 2024 Olympics and Paralympics with a brand new challenge badge –

Girlguiding in motion.

The Olympic and Paralympic values of Excellence, Respect, Friendship and Courage, Determination, Inspiration, Equality are closely aligned with the values and promise of Girlguiding so rather than being just about sport, this challenge is about trying new things, working together and doing your best.

Money raised from sales of the badge will be going towards our county properties so they can host new experiences and adventures for our young members long into the future.

There are 5 parts to the challenge with a range of different activities and suggested UMA connections. The badge is aimed at all sections and can be adapted to the needs of your unit. There are no specific requirements to earn the badge, the most important thing is to have fun, but we suggest that you undertake at least one activity from each part.
