Richardson city officials have big plans for what they envision as the "premier tech hub of Texas," a future 1,200-acre transit-oriented development just east of US 75. But to bring the vision to life, the city must first rezone the area.
Rules that govern land use, parking requirements, development standards and signage in the area must be tailored to accomplish what the city has in mind for the Collins-Arapaho Innovation District, an area roughly contained by US 75, Campbell Road, Plano Road and Apollo Drive.

Developers and investors have revealed a new name for the Main Street area.
Richardson's Core District, an historic place on Main Street between Central Expressway and Greenville Avenue, will include construction of more than 20,000 square feet of retail and commercial space, 300 multi-family and 100 single-family homes and the addition of new parks.
THE "core" (
The Richardson Core District
) was selected after several months of research and evaluation by design firm Dodd Creative Group, who worked with Main Street area property and business owners as well as other community leaders to develop a concept and logo for the downtown area.

Even after six generations, it's still great when you get a little help from your friends, and your community. "When we opened our store in Richardson, we wanted to open it here," said Anthony Pampillonia, "It's our community."
"We enjoy serving our community, and our local employees and clients are just great," he said. The business community is supported by the City and its residents. The supportive atmosphere makes Richardson a special place, he said.
The Pampillonia family began designing, manufacturing and selling quality jewelry in their ancestral home in Italy. The family moved from their US base in Washington D.C. to Richardson in 1985. Richardson's retail store opened in 2005.
