This week we have been recognizing our staff as part of “National Teachers Week.”  Thank you to our Home and School and all of our families for contributing in the recognition of our outstanding staff.  As we have been providing tours of potential families, they are all impressed that we have a staff that is dedicated to the students and their development.

During this time of year we are continuing to work with our students as well as planning for the 2024-25 school year.  The first step in planning is ensuring that we have stability with our staff members for the next year.  All of our current teaching staff have been presented with their annual evaluations and contracts for next year.  It is encouraging for the St. Joseph Community that every teacher has signed their contract and are involved in planning to ensure that we continue to strive for excellence during the 2024-25 school year.

Our extracurricular activities will also continue for next year with some additional opportunities offered.  We will be providing more information as we move forward in ensuring that our students have a variety of options.  We extend our gratitude to those that have worked with our students throughout this, and previous school years.  Also, thank you to those that are stepping up to continue our programming.

An area that will be in focus for next school year will be curriculum, instruction and assessment.  We have listened to feedback and done a great deal of reflection on preparing our students for their high school experiences.  Working to ensure that we provide proven instructional methods, utilizing our assessment pieces and providing a clear continuum of curriculum is essential for St. Joseph School.  We have some action steps that are going to be taken and those steps will be clearly communicated in the weeks to come.

Finally, as mentioned, we have been providing a number of tours to prospective students.  Our Middle School Students have been assisting with these tours.  The students are the most positive asset to our school and have demonstrated that to potential families.

Gratefully,

Chris Multhauf

Principal

The Ascension of Our Lord

Thursday, May 9th

The Christian holiday of Ascension Day, also known as the Feast of the Ascension, celebrates when Jesus ascended to heaven. This feast day is one of the ecumenical feasts of Christian churches, along with the celebrations of the Passion, Easter, and Pentecost. Ascension Day is generally observed on a Thursday, the fortieth day after Easter.

"No one has ascended into heaven except He who descended from heaven, the Son of Man." ~ John 3:13

Week of May 6th, 2024

This week we are spending some time getting fresh air outside and reading “The Circles All around Us” for the Primary grades. Intermediate grades have chosen topics that appeal to them to learn more about such as sportsmanship, respect, calming strategies and working as a team. Middle School is working on learning about chosen topics related to mental health and mindfulness. 8th graders are working on putting together a special gift for each other as they move on to high school.

I like to use mindfulness videos for all grade levels. I even use these at home with my own kids. The Mindfulness Teacher on YouTube has a lot of great activities and the kids love these!
