Letter from the Director
Dear Friends,

This month I am pleased to announce our new Homebound Service that is available thanks to a partnership with the New Milford Senior Center. New Milford residents who cannot make it into the library to pick up materials due to physical or mental disability, and who do not have someone to assist them in obtaining library materials, can now apply for this free home delivery service. If you or someone you know may be eligible, simply print up the online form and send it to us or call the library and we will assist you. You may email the form to us at nmpl_ref@biblio.org In order to participate, you must have a current library card in good standing. The form, along with a complete description of the service, can be found here

Once the application is approved, our librarians will select materials to suit your needs based on the interests reflected on the form. This service is not limited to books. You can also request magazines, DVDs, books on CD, puzzles, and other library materials. The Senior Center will then arrange a convenient time for their volunteers to provide delivery. Materials are due back at the library at the time of the next delivery. If you need to keep the items longer, you can call the library or renew online.

In addition to offering Homebound Services, the library has been partnering with the Senior Center and other senior living facilities to provide monthly book exchanges as well as interactive programming with our Youth Activists group. We are always seeking ways to work with local organizations to create new services for the community. Please contact me at lrhyins@biblio.org if you have an idea for collaborating with the library to reach New Milford patrons more effectively.

Patron Reviews
Sample patron reviews from our Bonus Book program:

The Survivors by Jane Harper - "Loved it. Had no idea who the murderer was and I like books when I don’t figure it out. Definitely will look for other books by her."

The Librarian Always Rings Twice by Marty Wingate - "Dreadful. The estate of Daphne du Maurier can’t be happy about the way the author ripped off “Frenchman’s Creek”. I presume she did the same with previous books. I won’t read another of hers."

The Echoes by Jess Montgomery - "Thought this would be totally new, but realized I had read “The Hollows” and loved it. This one was good, but I think there were too many minor characters which made it rather confusing."
