Letter from the Director
Dear Friends,

As the weather gets colder, you are probably spending more time indoors with family. Dreary days and afternoons that turn dark early are great times to snuggle up with a cup of hot cocoa and read a book or watch a good video.

Last month, I talked about ways you can expand your reading world by using our many book discovery services. This month, I want to introduce you to Kanopy, the library’s streaming video service that allows each New Milford Public Library cardholder to stream up to 10 titles per month.

Kanopy offers a wide variety of movies, documentaries, series, and seasonal favorites to keep you entertained. For those of you who do not have other streaming services, Kanopy offers a wealth of videos free of charge. For those of you who already subscribe to other services, Kanopy can be a place to broaden your selection.

To get started, either click here and follow the instructions to add your library card number and create a pin, or download the Kanopy app on your smart device and create your account there. Once you are logged in, find something great to watch by browsing curated lists or searching for a specific title. Most popular current titles include: Together, Together; Parasite; Moonlight; The Mask You Live In; and When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit. So create an account and start watching today!

As always, if you have any questions about how to get started, give our staff a call. We’re always here to help.

A Carnival of Snackery: Diaries (2003-2020) by David Sedaris
Daily observations and vignettes as told by the master essayist. David Sedaris is back with his signature humor and perceptive view of the world.
Kathryn –
John Grisham's 2020 A Time for Mercy - Similar to A Time to Kill in that lawyer Jake Briggance is defending someone who committed a murder with just cause.  In this book he is defending a 16 year old kid who killed his mom's abusive boyfriend. I like it a lot so far.
Leslie -
As a huge fan of Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series, whenever she releases a new title it is exciting! Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone thus far does not disappoint. Finally the family is reunited on Fraser’s Ridge, but with the Revolutionary War at their door there's more drama to come. I am currently reading this title through our ebook platform Axis360, check it out!
Amy -
One of my favorite YA books is A Mango-Shaped Space by Wendy Mass. The main character, Mia, has synesthesia, which means she sees colors in sounds, numbers, and words. Plus, she has a cat named Mango!
Peggy -
A Line to Kill by Anthony Horowitz – A whodunit murder mystery at a literary conference on a little island with a cast of interesting characters/suspects!
Gail -
Once There Were Wolves by Charlotte McConaghy
Sue --
Murder For the Books by Victoria Gilbert
Shelved Under Murder by Victoria Gilbert
All About Me by Mel Brooks
Chez Bob by Bob Shea
Gladys the Magic Chicken by Adam Rubin
