The Caribbean Cooperative MRV Hub (the "MRV Hub") is a sustainable cooperative institution for conducting climate change relevant MRV in the Caribbean that generates objective data for use by Caribbean nations.

End of Year Message

2020 has truly been a remarkable year and will generally be remembered for Covid-19 and all the disruption and suffering it brought. While we acknowledge there have been significant negative impacts, we also recognize the positive developments. 

Work Crew Update

The MRV Hub work crews have now been established in the sectors; Forestry and Other Land Use (FOLU) led by Dr. Anup Joshi, Data Management Systems (DMS) led by Dr. Olia Glade and On-Road Mobile Source led by Dr. Michael Gillenwater. Membership includes experts from MRV Hub member countries, other states across the region and the international scientific community including, Antigua & Barbuda, Belize, Barbados, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Saint Lucia, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Trinidad & Tobago, Suriname, Canada, USA and South Africa.

Recent and Highlighted Events

NDC Virtual Exchange
28th September 2020 - The MRV Hub Jointly hosted the 5th Caribbean NDC Virtual Exchange. This virtual exchange was centered on enhancing technical capacities of experts from the Caribbean and Pacific SIDS who are in the process of preparing their new or updated NDCs in line with provisions relevant for preparation, communication, accounting and tracking of NDCs

Maritime Webinar Series
11th and 18th November 2020 – The MRV Hub attended the 3rd and 4th installments of the Maritime Technology Cooperation Centre – Caribbean webinar series.

The 3rd installment addressed the inclusion of Maritime initiatives in Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) from a Caribbean perspective and discussed how to incorporate Sector-Specific Initiatives in NDCs and possibilities of Accounting for Maritime Bunker Fuels within local MRV systems.

In the 4th installment, the team of panelists discussed solutions for the decarbonization of Maritime Transport. In addition, a conversation was held on wind propulsion developments, the use of alternative fuels including LNG, and maritime informatics as a tool for the decarbonization of shipping.

Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Workshop
The MRV Hub participated in the Virtual Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning (RAC) Stakeholder Workshop hosted by the National Ozone Unit (NOU), Grenada. This webinar focused on the Review of the National Cooling Action Plan for Grenada. This revision provides a concrete road map and short-, medium- and long-term strategies for the implementation of climate-smart and energy-efficient cooling systems along with a supportive regulatory framework.

Caribbean MRV Event Calendar
The MRV Hub and its network collect and post events relating to climate meetings and events in the region. This "Caribbean Event Calendar" has been created and is posted on our webpage.

Meet the MRV Hub Network

Tani Colbert-Sangree is a Program Officer at the Greenhouse Gas Management Institute. His expertise targets carbon offsets, Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, and GHG verification. Tani has over 8 years of experience with climate change mitigation and adaptation work within academia and the business community.

Congratulation to Antigua & Barbuda as they replace Belize as Chair of AOSIS in December 2020.
