Can you believe that a new year is upon us. When I think of making Goals for the New year my minds eye goes to to one of my favorite verses, Philippians 3:14, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Jesus-Christ. As Paul puts the past behind him He reaches for the Prize. In looking at Paul's life we should ask ourselves? How do we reach this Mark and Prize. Paul speaks of aiming for a specific target and as we set our goals for the new year we too need to aim for a specific target. So what exactly are we aiming to achieve? Paul's life shows us the power of the Gospel as He 1) Got It: Being saved on the Damascus Road. 2) Grew in it: Growing in Christ through the Word of God and 3) Gave it: As he made Disciples in leading others to Christ while befriending, teaching, and going with the converts to make more disciples. This is the Mark, or target, in which all Christians should be Aiming. In making application we see that our aim should be following Paul's path of 1) Getting it: Being saved 2) Growing in it: Learning through the Word and 3) Giving it: Making Disciples through witnessing, befriending, and investing our lives into others to reproduce this Christian life to others. When we Aim for this Mark we will see the Lord using us to achieve the Prize of more disciples. How about you? What are you aiming for in 2015?
