Leadership Team Updates

Dear St. Alphonsus Families,

We had a "whaley" great time last week hosting Gift of Wings and Connor Doran, former America's Got Talent contestant, at St. Alphonsus School last week! Connor was here as part of a special sponsorship from St. Al's parishioner Al Emmons and the Love Thy Neighbor foundation. Connor has autism and epilepsy and has used indoor kite flying to help with those needs. Students were treated to an hour long assembly in which Connor flew his kites to music, and his mom talked with us about being on AGT and how kite flying has helped Connor. Students and staff had the chance to fly some indoor kites. In addition, Gift of Wings owner Scott Fisher brought his 75 foot giant whale kite for our students to see and touch! You can learn more via the press release here, and we have linked below a video to Connor's America's Got Talent audition. We will also be showcasing some additional pictures and videos on our social media channels this week! Follow the Parish & School on Facebook here and follow the school on Instagram here.

A couple of other important items for you this week:

Below is important PowerSchool information. If you have not yet filled out your health forms online or been able to access your tuition and lunch balances, please do so ASAP. All families are required to fill out the online forms, even if you are paying tuition with cash or check. The office will begin to contact families who are delinquent on their forms this week.

Important PowerSchool Information

It's a lot of words, so please bear with us!

Health & Registration Forms are being collected online in PowerSchool this year and were due on Friday, August 30.

If you need a prescription medication form for your doctor to sign-off on, you can find that here. You can also find a copy of it on our website here. It is fine to download, have your doctor sign, and then return the paper copy of this form to school. All other forms should be filled out online. Instructions for how to complete the forms are attached here. Please remember that these instructions are for the website, not the PowerSchool app. Although you can fill out the forms on the app, it is easier to do so from a desktop or laptop computer. The link to PowerSchool is below.

One very important form to fill out is the General Consent Form for Photo, Video & Audio use. As a a reminder, this is the photo opt-in form that gives St. Alphonsus permission to share your student's photo in our school newsletter, on our social media, and on our website. Without a form indicating YES, your student CANNOT be shown in any capacity.

Lunch fees can be paid online in the same portal that you pay tuition, called RevTrak. On a computer or laptop: to access, you need to click on the BALANCES button, not the Tuition button. Please note that we do NOT utilize EduTrak, which is what the Tuition button at the bottom of the desktop screen will take you to.

From the BALANCES page, you will see both tuition & fees listed as well as Meal Transactions. Click on the Make a Payment button on the right hand side of the screen to access RevTrak and set up your account/pay online. Please remember that you can always pay with Cash or Check by stopping in to the school office to make your payments. Online payments are not required, and everything will still be tracked in your PowerSchool account.

Log into PowerSchool Here!

We will also see you this week for Back to School night from 5:30-7:00pm on Thursday, September 12 in the St. Alphonsus Community Room. Park in the main church parking lot and enter at the church doors. You can stop in anytime between 5:30 and 7:00pm! This event is designed for parents to get to know their child's classroom teachers more. New this year, instead of classroom presentations, all teachers will have a table in the Community Room, in addition to tables for things like SCRIP, Home & School, and more! Please note that this event is intended for parents only, so we recommend leaving the kiddos home. This will give you ample time to chat directly with your child's teacher, learn about classroom expectations and events, and ask questions! We look forward to seeing you then!

Please be sure to also check out the information below for the upcoming Fun Run as well as reminders about this week's Dine Out Night, a save the date for Trunk or Treat, and Cougars Athletics news.

Have a great week! As a reminder, you can always find an archive of our school newsletters on our website here.

Best regards,

Ms. Parey, Principal

Mrs. Schermetzler & Mrs. Bruhn, Leadership Team

SCRIP Makes $ense

Welcome Back to School from the SCRIP program!

Did you know? SCRIP proceeds are a line item of the school budget! If 50 school families bought $100 in grocery cards and $100 in gasoline cards WEEKLY, that would be $5,000 earned in one year towards tuition credit and school! (Of course we spend more!) Help yourself and your school by making SCRIP part of your daily grocery and gas budget.

Did you know? Much more money can be earned when using SCRIP for dining out, and retail shopping. Don't forget Dine-Out Nights. Purchase those restaurant cards ahead of time and double dip with SCRIP!

Did you know? You can also raise more money by using the RAISERIGHT website when you shop online. Learn more here!

Stop at the SCRIP table at church and chat with us, or check out these videos for How to Get Started:

Staff Spotlight: Miss Hall, Spanish

Welcome to Staff Spotlight!

Each week we will be highlighting a member of our staff so you can get to know them better. We thought it would be great to start off with some of our new staff, so this week we are featuring Miss Mariah Hall, our new Spanish teacher!

Miss Hall graduated from UW-Milwaukee with a BA in Spanish Language in 2018. She taught in the Milwaukee Public Schools for 5 years and worked in Child Welfare for one year before deciding to return to the classroom! She will be graduating next August with a Masters Degree in Social Work, and plans to continue working with children and families.

We’re excited to announce that we are switching it up a bit for this year’s annual fundraiser, the St. Alphonsus Glow Run. We’re bringing the Fun Run indoors with this school-wide event that will transform our gym into a neon celebration with rope lights, disco lights, and music. Our goal is to raise $20,000 to cover the additional costs of the new playground structure.

Fundraising will kick off with a Pep Rally on September 30th. Then, families will have 10 days to approach friends, family, neighbors, coworkers - and anyone else who may want to support our school - to make pledges per lap run by your student(s). The Glow Run will take place on October 9th in the gym.

If you have any questions, please contact Fun Run chair Olivia Hartley.

Thanks in advance for your support of our school!
