Council finalizes moving election to November
The Round Rock City Council voted Thursday, Aug. 13, to approve an ordinance to move the May 2020 election to Nov. 3.

The timing of City elections had been in question since Gov. Greg Abbott issued a proclamation in March that effectively canceled the May elections due to concerns related to COVID-19. City Council elections have been held in May for more than 40 years.

Transit schedule returns to regular hours
Transit services in Round Rock recently returned to regular operating hours of 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. This includes Capital Metro fixed routes as well as the Star Shuttle ADA paratransit service. Route 980 will remain suspended at this time. Transit hours were previously reduced in March of this year due to COVID-19. Face coverings will continue to be required and social distancing will be encouraged by leaving empty seats in between customers.

Focus on strategic goals key to long-term success
Even though the proposed fiscal year 2021 budget is $25 million less than the budget approved this time last year, it still funds key programs of the City Council’s six strategic priorities.
