City elections moved to May 2021
The Round Rock City Council voted 6-1 last week to hold the general and special elections originally scheduled for May 2020 on May 1, 2021.

“Due to circumstances related to COVID-19, the City was forced to consider several options for holding our elections,” Mayor Craig Morgan said. “The motion presented and voted upon...moved the election to the uniform date that occurs in May by City Charter and ordinance.”

Chisholm Trail Road closed for RM 620 project
Chisholm Trail Road between RM 620 and Sunset Drive is currently closed due to utility work related to the RM 620 project.

The section of road will be closed through early August. Traffic is being detoured to the northbound and southbound I-35 frontage roads and to Sunset Drive to access Chisholm Trail to the north of the closure.

Drivers may expect delays and slowed traffic during the detour.

FEATURE STORY
July is Smart Irrigation Month
As Texans, we experience drought quite often during the summer months, and Williamson County is already facing abnormally dry conditions. As temperatures rise and rainfall decreases, July is typically the month that water consumption skyrockets due to irrigation. This is the time to make some smart changes to your irrigation practices if you haven’t already.

If you are a direct Round Rock water customer, you can schedule a free irrigation evaluation with the City's Water Conservation staff. They can also create an efficient watering schedule that is tailored to your unique landscape and environmental factors.

Save water with new rain barrels during sale
The City’s Water Conservation Program is selling rain barrels at a discounted price to encourage residents to conserve water resources and protect water quality.

Fifty-gallon, black barrels are currently available for $72.50. Barrels may be pre-ordered online for pickup in August at the City’s Utilities and Transportation Building, 3400 Sunrise Road.

RRFD collecting fans for residents in need
As temperatures continue to rise this summer, the Round Rock Fire Department is asking residents to give to their neighbors who need help.

The Round Rock Fire Department’s Community Risk Reduction program is now accepting new, donated fans through Aug. 31. Donations will help provide heat relief to seniors, adults with disabilities and families in need.
