Thank you to the more than 120 members who attended our Annual General Meeting on July 7!

The coffee was ready on-time, the food was delicious (thank you Humble Pie), and the business of the meeting went smoothly.

Members were engaged, and dare-I-say, spellbound by Rick Esselment's presentation about what can go wrong and how to avoid problems with your Septic system (or as he calls it, your Water Protection system). For 2018 ESSE Canada will be offering a rate of $275 for LOBA members to inspect, investigate, consult and plan maintenance for their systems. Finally Wendy Gibson wrapped up the meeting with an update on the development proposal for Langmaid's Island, and Lake of Bays Association's and Lake of Bays Heritiage Foundation's co-involvement in commenting on the issue.

Things you might have seen around the lake .....

Markers - some with flashing lights

Steve Scholten of the MNRF confirmed that a fish community assessment is being done under the umbrella of the provincial Broad-scale Monitoring program. You can expect to see the markers for another couple of weeks and it is important the nets not be disturbed for safety and data quality.

CC-130 Hercules Transport

The plane you might have seen around Lake of Bays is with the 426 Transport Training Squadron out of Trenton, which carries out courses every year to graduate operationally effective aircrew and technicians in support of Canadian Forces operations. Lake of Bays is in the western side of a training zone used for various flights.

Saturday July 28 - Montgomery Bay to Long Point

Glenn is on track to complete his swim on Monday August 6 at noon at the South Portage public boat launch. A reception with emcee will start at 11:15 a.m. and Glenn will be accompanied by the Lake of Bays boat tours pontoon boat with family members on board. Come out to cheer him on!
