The Candidates Have Spoken! Your vote matters!

LOBA is helping you evaluate the candidates for the October 22 election by printing their verbatim answers to a questionnaire on our web site. All but two candidates sent responses. Please take time to learn their positions here.

There are important issues in Lake of Bays and Muskoka that will impact permanently the community and environment.

Voting is easy, either online or by telephone.
We must elect Councils in Lake of Bays, Huntsville and at Muskoka District that demonstrate by words and actions they will respect the people’s concerns.
The questionnaire results show who we elect will have a major impact on key issues, such as:

  • Protecting heritage on Langmaid’s Island;
  • Library funding and expansion;
  • Balancing economic growth with protecting the environment;
  • Showing respect for the views to all citizens and Councillors;
  • Affordable housing near services;
  • Fighting for funding to maintain two hospital sites, and more.

The survey results are here.

Who can vote?

  • A Lake of Bays Township property owner AND their spouse.
  • A person who rents property in Lake of Bays (for 6+ weeks in 2018) AND
  • their spouse.
  • You can vote in each municipality in Ontario where you own or rent
  • property.
  • Only Canadian citizens, 18+ years old.
  • You can give a proxy to a family member to vote for you.
