"Faith That Feeds"
We believe that faith should feed and nurture our spirits.
We believe also that faith should lead us to feed people
in the many different ways they hunger,
both physically and spiritually.

Hybrid Sunday Worship

The Fourteenth Sunday After Pentecost

August 25, 2024

In today’s gospel many people take offense at Jesus’ invitation to eat his flesh and drink his blood; even many of Jesus’ disciples peel off. This is the backdrop in John’s gospel for Peter’s confession of faith. “To whom can we go?” asks Peter, in words we sometimes sing just before the gospel is read. “You have the words of eternal life.” In order to take such a stand, as Peter and Joshua did, Paul tells us to arm ourselves with the word of God. We pray in the Spirit that we might be bold ambassadors of the gospel.

Back to Campus 2024

19 Are Needed to Hit the Goal!

It’s the middle of August! THANK YOU to the generous donors who have already contributed to our Back to Campus campaign for ensuring that the ministry is ready to welcome and engage students when they return in September! Click on the logo to read about Back2campus2024.

LCMNU has plenty of things to prepare for with the new academic year as well, such as the Welcome Back BBQ, Wednesday evening suppers and 21 theo discussions, service projects in the Evanston and Chicago area, Homecoming and Family Weekend…there’s no shortage of planning and purchasing that goes into these events, and it’s all returning in no time! These events are essential to our ministry.

Looking ahead, as planning for a new academic year goes into high gear, your support will go a long way toward ensuring that the ministry is able to continue its vital work. During the month of August, the Board of Directors is issuing a special challenge: that 31 donors—one donor per day for the month—will help get things rolling by contributing an August gift of $25 OR giving at one (or more!) of the following levels:

$75 will fund refreshments for Sunday worship fellowship time.

$100 covers pizza and drinks for a pizza and game night.

$125 pays for one visit from the custodial staff, ensuring the center is cleaned and sanitized.

$175 pays half the cost of our annual Welcome Back BBQ!

$275 provides meals and programming for a Wednesday night supper.

$325 will fund staffing, materials, and other necessary resources for a 21theo educational session.

Will YOU be one of the enthusiastic 31 donors who helps kickstart things at LCMNU this fall? If so, go to Online Donations (https://www.lcmnorthwestern.org/onlinedonations) and select “Give Now” under Back to Campus. Then, in the “Gift Amount” box, enter one of the seven amounts listed above. You can also donate an “Other” amount to tailor your specific gift. That way, ministry leadership can thank you and let you know exactly how your gift benefited our students.

We are looking for 31 of our friends, family, and/or alumni to support the start of the 2024–2025 academic year. The students and LCMNU board wish you plenty of fun and relaxation as summer rolls on and hope you will join the ministry for all that is to come in the fall!
