December 2023 Newsletter
President's Message
Happy December Friends!

The year has flown by and I have been honored to be your President this year. I would like to thank Susan Olson and Debby Nicklas for their commitment and dedication to our local AFP Board. Susan is officially retiring from work and Debby’s service on the board has officially timed out. She was a founding member of our chapter in 2015. Thank you Debby for your leadership! I know we will continue to see you both at National Philanthropy Day and at our local events throughout the year.

I am excited to welcome two new members in 2024. Austin Solheim, Director of Operations Development at ECHO and Caity McCardell, Interim Executive Director at Big Brothers Big Sisters. You will be hearing more about each of them in this newsletter in the months to come. If you don’t already know them, please come out to our monthly events to say “hi” and introduce yourself.

In these last few days of 2023, be sure to update your contacts on LinkedIn! Our Board is happy to connect with you. If you need professional advice, a friend in your corner, or a shoulder to lean on, reach out, let’s get coffee/tea and talk.

We are looking forward to some outstanding workshops in 2024. You can learn more about January’s program below.

Sending love to you as we transition to the new year!

Recap of December's Program
Wrapping up the Year With a Bang at the AFP SLO Meeting!
What an incredible month it has been for the AFP SLO community! Our December meeting was nothing short of a festive gathering that left us feeling informed, uplifted, and ready to embrace 2024 with a renewed sense of energy and happiness.

Over 40 of us convened at the stunning new Region Space, a venue that was as vibrant and welcoming as the crowd itself. The atmosphere was filled with festive cheer and a shared eagerness to learn from our featured guest, Wes Love of Culture Stroke.

Wes, with his dynamic personality and insightful approach, took us on a journey of self-discovery, guiding us through multiple exercises designed to help identify when and how we can make small, impactful changes in our lives. His interactive session was not just a talk, but a holistic experience aimed at empowering us to lead happier, more balanced lives.

The highlight of the session was undoubtedly Wes's unique ability to weave together concepts of personal growth and change in an accessible and engaging manner. He had us all thinking, reflecting, and most importantly, laughing together.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made this event so special. We look forward to seeing you again next year for more enlightening sessions and fun-filled gatherings!
