"Phone's for You!" Week 1
|
Dear Family Friends and Supporters,
We are overwhelmed with the fantastic response we have seen to our "Phone's for You!" calls. We knew when we moved here that there was great potential, but we had no idea how receptive this community would be. We started out last Sunday (23rd) with a great evening of calling.
So far we have dialed the phone (aka "Dial-ups") 4486 times. We have been working from here in Round Rock while others of you have helped us out with phone calls from other locations. A huge THANK YOU goes to the volunteers who are helping us.

When a phone number is dialed, sometimes it disconnected or changed. Often no one is home. When we do talk to a person, some are interested in receiving information; others are not. From all of numbers dialed, how many would you expect ask to be on the mailing list? 3 percent? 6 percent? 8 percent? Would you believe that we are having a 9.1 percent success rate at getting people on the list!! We are thrilled that there are 407 homes on that have agreed to receive information through the mail.
Please keep praying for God to continue to bless as we work hard. If you are involved in calling, be assured that your hard work is paying off tremendously. If you would like to get "on board" by getting on the phone, please let me know. We would love to see more phone calls made.

Humorous or interesting responses from this week's calling:
- Jimmy Hendricks agreed to be put on the mail list this week (OK, not that one).
- We have had a number of people who have asked questions and said they are very interested. Some have even promised to be at the first service.
- Dave Barba is so good at calling that yesterday he actually called someone who came over and helped us make calls! (This was a gentlemen who attends a sister church in another town who wanted to help us out.) Now that's good!
- We often call homes of Spanish-speakers. Usually we ask, "Do you speak English." One caller asked this and the person responded, "Yes, I do." After introducing himself and asking if they wanted information the other party responded, "Oh, I don't speak English."
- Phillip Olt called one house and recieved this answer on the first ring, "HELLO, IS THIS 9-1-1 CALLING ME BACK?" Apparently she had called for an ambulance and was anxiously waiting for an emergency crew to respond. Talk about timing!
If you are calling, please send along your pictures and/or humorous calls for inclusion in next week's issue. |
