Greetings Ospreys,
Keep an eye out for the AHS float in the
Snowdown Parade on Main Avenue at 6:00 this evening. The AHS Rotary Interact Club and a handful of students from Tina Hott's Biology classes have been diligently working alongside Fort Lewis College students to craft a float highlighting youth voice in response to climate change. The float is made of recycled materials and pulled by solar car. Thank you to sponsors
Living Solar,
Turtle Lake Refuge and
Tech-Nichol--and to alumna Ellis McNichol (AHS class of 2017) for spearheading the collaborative project!
Lori Fisher's sophomores are gearing up for their
Model United Nations exhibition next Thursday and Friday, where they will represent various nations' perspectives in the global debate about nuclear proliferation. Students will give speeches, negotiate and gather allies, and write, amend and vote on resolutions. Lori's morning section will conference on Thursday from 9:30 to 1:40, with a break for lunch from noon to 12:40, and her afternoon class will follow the same schedule on Friday. Families and community members are welcome and encouraged to attend!
Our
February Osprey Parent Coffee is next Friday morning from 8:30 to 9:15. Stop by to check in with Sean and Libby about second semester events and to hear hear from Jess Morrison and Carlin Nielsen about their work with students in college counseling and inclusion. Bring your coffee mug and questions!
We've had a number of students and staff out this week with the flu and want to remind families that it's good practice to keep students home until they are fever-free without medication for 24 hours. Please see this
information about influenza from the CDC for more about prevention, symptoms and treatment.
Stay healthy, enjoy the weekend and thanks for all you do to help the Ospreys soar!
