Greetings Ospreys,
The AHS Class of 2022 will dive into community service and career exploration next week through
Sophomore Inspire Week. Students will engage in a variety of college and career prep activities during core classes on Monday and Tuesday, then venture off campus Wednesday through Friday to work alongside several local organizations, doing everything from envisioning and planning a new playground for
The Juniper School to helping
Adaptive Sports Association make skiing at Purgatory accessible for people with disabilities. Juniors are in the final stretch of confirming
LINK Internships, which will take them out into the professional world in May, and their participation in this week's
Vision on the Future of Work event gave them valuable practice in networking. It's all part of the
four-year career and college program arc that helps Ospreys discover their passions, understand the paths to various careers and build the skills to get there.
Seniors are deep in the process of writing their
Senior Project thesis papers, which means it's about the time of year when we (believe it or not!) start thinking about plans for graduation. Next Tuesday from 5:30 to 6:30, seniors and their families will join assistant head of school Libby Cowles for a
Graduation Meeting, where they'll learn more about graduation events, how to order announcements, caps, gowns and photos, and how to reserve tickets for the graduation ceremony on May 29 at the Community Concert Hall.
Student Council is hosting an
Osprey Open Gym at Durango Gymnastics next Friday from 6:00 to 8:00. StuCo is selling tickets ahead of time during lunch every day. Cover charge is just $6--a screaming deal for a healthy, fun Friday evening activity!
Save the date--
Spring Student-led Conferences are on Thursday, March 5. Look for a letter coming next week with links to sign up for your time slot. Spring SLCs are required for all 9th and 10th graders, as well as for 11th graders who have yet to confirm a LINK Internship or who currently have a C- or below in any class. Also coming next week, we'll be sending out 2020-21 registration information for new and returning families.
Be sure to review the
Osprey Week itineraries that we sent out this week, and please reach out to individual Osprey Week leaders if you have any questions about activities, meeting locations, transportation, etc.
Enjoy the weekend and thanks for all you do to help the Ospreys soar!
