Greetings Ospreys,
For those who were not able to attend last week's Senior Humanities Exhibition, the class of 2019's
Community of Resilience publication is now available online. Visit this
link to view artwork, poetry, research analysis, and personal essays our seniors crafted in their exploration of mental health and factors that support resiliency.
It's truly beautiful work--professional, articulate and thought-provoking.
To see more outstanding student work, join us for a Sophomore Humanities Exhibition on Tuesday from 5:00 to 6:30 in the AHS Commons. Students in Lori Fisher's class have explored the darkest sides of humanity in the hopes of learning lessons to prevent such atrocities in the future. They will present an immersive museum-style exhibition of their learning called
A Century of Death: Genocide in the Modern World
. We invite you to attend to learn more about why these unimaginable tragedies have occurred and what it will take to prevent them.
Next week's
9th Grade Career Day will allow students to visit local professionals working in the fields of Business, Marketing and Public Administration, on the heels of this week's Career Day, where freshmen learned more about work in Education, Hospitality and Human Services. We are grateful for all our community partners and parent chaperones who make these valuable experiences possible for our students.
Sophomores and their families are encouraged to join Jess Adams and Janae Hunderman for a
Sophomore Career and College Night Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:30 at AHS, where they will learn more about how course selection, summer programs and standardized tests play a role in helping students discover the careers and colleges that fit best. Unable to attend? Visit
Jess' Digital Portfolio, where she posts slides from all evening sessions alongside many other valuable resources.
The
AHS Board of Directors meets Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:30 at AHS. The meeting is open to all with agenda and minutes posted
here.
Our next
AHS Information Session for Prospective Families is Thursday, 5:30 to 6:30.
Current AHS families will receive registration materials for the 2019-20 school year on March 4, our enrollment lottery date. Siblings of current students and alumni are guaranteed a spot, provided they complete the online
Intent to Enroll
by the lottery date.
Enjoy the long weekend and thanks for all you do to help the Ospreys soar!
