Dear Milk Bank friends,
Thank you for supporting us on this crazy ride of starting up! So much has been happening here, and we're excited to share it all with you!

First Alabama Milk Depot!
Madison, AL has opened the first depot site for the MMBAL in partnership with Connections Breastfeeding. The Madison Milk Depot is at Journey Therapeutic Massage. North Alabama moms who are interested in donating milk can download our donor packet from the website. 
We Exist!
We received our 501(c)(3) status from the IRS on March 23, 2015. The Mothers' Milk Bank of Alabama is now a recognized non-profit organization. We are still a part of the Food Bank family as a subsidiary and will still be located at the Food Bank. 

Why does this matter? The Milk Bank is now able to apply for grant funding as an independent organization. Nothing else is changing as far as where we are located or contact information.

On March 7th, the Junior League of Birmingham hosted a wonderful brunch for our local donor moms. The "Eat Local" theme was a hit with delicious food, vegetable arts and crafts, and  stories of how breast milk donations have impacted so many lives (we cried, y'all, so much). 

On May 12th, the Junior League surprised us with a generous year end gift! This gift will cover the purchase of our equipment and tables for our new pasteurization lab. We are so excited to continue our partnership with the JLB through volunteers this next year!
 

What's Next??
When will y'all be pasteurizing?
 
This is definitely the question that we get the most, and I wish I could give you a definite date for when everything will be in place! Currently we have our renovation plans and are accepting bids. We plan to be knocking out the old and bringing in the new in the next couple of weeks. The goal is to be pasteurizing by the end of summer!
