Did you Know...?
April 26th is JFS Orlando Day
Did you know that April 26th is recognized as JFS Orlando Day in the City of Orlando?

20 years ago, back on April 26, 2001, Jewish Family Services of Greater Orlando celebrated the dedication of our new location at 2100 Lee Road in Winter Park. To celebrate the day, then Mayor Glenda E. Hood proclaimed April 26th as "Jewish Family Services of Greater Orlando Day"!

With a look into the ongoing year, he listed some of JFS Orlando’s goals for 2021...

Welcome: Spotlight on Cameron Saldate
Welcome to Cameron Saldate, JFS Orlando's new Pearlman Emergency Food Pantry Assistant!

"It’s been great! Everyone is very welcoming, and it definitely feels like a family of sorts. It’s great because if you have a great environment to work in, you’re going to want to do your best. So every day that I come in, I want to do as much as I can for everyone. That’s my attitude.

Every day I come in with a smile, and I leave with a smile."

Volunteer Spotlight:
The Gift of Time
Susan Lazarus

Longtime volunteer and friend of JFS Orlando, Susan Lazarus first moved to Orlando in the early 70s so that her husband, Lou, could work with David and Audrey Pearlman at Kanes Furniture. “…So I felt it was extra special to come full circle and volunteer at their namesake [the Pearlman Emergency Food Pantry] after I retired from the school system in 2012.”

Counseling, Growth and Development:
Program Update
You may have noticed some new faces on the counseling webpage. Recently the counseling department has gone through some changes. These changes were made for several reasons, but overall to ensure the health of the program for the long term. These changes will make it possible for our therapists to have a more predictable paycheck and for our agency to have a more predictable payroll, helping with budgeting and financial forecasting. This new system also gets new clients in quicker and more efficiently.

We also recently switched over to an EMR (electronic medical record) reducing any need for paper, printing, filing or storing files on site. Now we are secure up in the cloud, which means we no longer have to worry about physical files being destroyed in the event of a hurricane or fire. This new system also has our HIPPA compliant telehealth platform to securely perform telehealth sessions. Additionally, the system sends out voice and test alerts and helps us bill and catch denied claims faster, leaving more time for our administrative staff to answer the call for new clients.

All of this is helping our program to be more efficient, sustainable, and available to take on the growing needs of the community without delays!
Welcome new counselors,
Tania and Jean-Ann!
