From MOCA Jacksonville
Visiting Artist Anthony Auippy
For the last five years, Art with a Heart in Healthcare has partnered with MOCA Jacksonville to present a collaboration of works by artists and patients at Wolfson Children's Hospital. In December we had a visit from Anthony Aiuppy, recently appointed as the
J. Wayne and Delores Barr Weaver Educator for Family and Children's Programs at MOCA Jacksonville
.
Anthony stopped by to check out our program and work with some of our awesome kids. Working with supplies from our Art-to-Go bags, Anthony guided patients in using oil pastels and watercolors, which allowed the kids to experiment with new techniques.
We look forward to working with Anthony as we prepare for our 6th annual show at MOCA Jacksonville opening August 6th, 2017.

Watercrest Senior Living in Jacksonville was given a dose of creativity when residents, family members, caregivers, and staff gathered for the
Memory Care Family Night with Art with a Heart in Healthcare, which featured a valentine-themed painting class. There were a lot of laughs and memorable moments during the evening which ended with each participant taking home their own unique valentine painting.

Volunteer Artist Spotlight
|
Pasty Moore has been volunteering with Art with a Heart in Healthcare for over 11 years. Pasty's daughter Reece volunteered with Art with a Heart in Healthcare during her freshman year in college and thought that it would be a great opportunity for her mom.
Pasty comes from a family of artists with six out of seven of her siblings being involved in the arts. Pasty ran her own business in Jacksonville for many years working in custom calligraphy and illustration. Her role as a volunteer has evolved over the years; being part of group art sessions, one on one bedside art sessions, personalized name signs, to creating one of a kind coloring pages for the children at Wolfson Children's Hospital Emergency Department.
"I am inspired by patients' stories and triumphs. I love to witness the comradery between the patients, family members, and medical staff. Their ability to stay positive in challenging situations is remarkable."
Thank you Pasty for being part of our team!

SEDNET is a regional network of the major child serving agencies, community-based service providers, and students and their families, focused on developing inter-agency collaboration and sustaining partnerships, in Education, Mental Health, Substance Abuse, Juvenile Justice, Child Welfare, Families, and Youth.
On January 21 SEDNET Region 4, which covers Clay, Duval, and Nassau County, provided Trauma Informed Training for Clay County Behavioral Site Coaches. Much of the training focused on traumatized children's inability to self-regulate. Artist in Residence Ajamu Mutima attended the training to demonstrate how music was originally designed for healing through self-regulation. Ajamu took the participants on a musical journey using the traditional African Kora, wooden flutes, and hand crafted drums giving them a firsthand experience of the benefits of music.

The Wolfson Children's Challenge is an annual event that celebrates patients' lives and raises funds for vitally needed technology and equipment for Wolfson patients.
More than 3,000 people participated in the day of festivities, with 1,900 running in the different races at The Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.
Every year, this symbolic event features 55 children who share their inspiring stories. Art with a Heart in Healthcare facilitated a group art session for children that were to be honored during the event. It was a great day to make art and see some of the patients and families we have worked with over the years.
