New Survey Seeks Input on City's Fair Housing Rezoning Project
|
Concord's Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH) Rezoning Project is an inclusive public planning process that involves rezoning select properties in higher-resource neighborhoods to allow multi-family development. The project seeks to rezone approximately 20 acres of the nearly 7,000 acre study area (shown in blue) to allow housing for a mix of income levels.
While the project is being completed under mandates from the State of California to implement the City of Concord Housing Element, the overarching goal is to partner with the community to address housing inequities and improve the quality of life in Concord.
Concord has launched a brief survey for you to share your thoughts about principles that should guide this project, ways to improve quality of life, and your hopes for the future. Your input will help inform the rezoning alternatives proposed for this area.
Prior to completing this survey, we encourage you to watch the April 25 Community Meeting on this topic. You may watch the video here using Passcode: Bx7xMkQ%
For more information about the Concord AFFH Rezoning Project, please refer to the project website: www.cityofconcord.org/AFFH

Community Event at Cambridge Park Seeks to Make Monument Blvd Safer for Walking, Biking, and Rolling
|
The City of Concord is submitting a grant application to make Monument Boulevard safe and comfortable for people walking, biking, and rolling.
The Monument Blvd Trails-to-Transit project will build a 1.5-mile-long separated walking & biking path on Monument Boulevard from the Iron Horse Trail in the west to Walters Way in the east. This project will help residents of the Monument Corridor safely access parks, schools, BART, downtown, and other community destinations. But we need your help.
The City of Concord is partnering with Monument Impact to gather input from residents who use Monument Blvd every day. Join us, along with Monument Moves, at Cambridge Park from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Friday, May 17. Review our plans for the corridor, share your safety concerns for the street, and help us make this a project that works for everyone.
The first 15 participants are eligible to receive a $25 gift card. All materials will be in English and Spanish.

Water District Highlights Community Pool
|
The City of Concord's Community Pool was featured today in the Contra Costa Water District's campaign to showcase the countless ways in which we all depend on clean water.
Their Facebook post reads:
"It takes clean and reliable #MadeWithCCWD water to keep the City of Concord, California Community Pool full year-round for the nearly 125,000 swimmers who visit annually. In addition to daily long- and short-course lap swimming, they offer swim lessons and classes for learners, as well as recreational and water exercise programs and space for many local swim teams to practice.
Learn more about how CCWD water is promoting a healthy community for all: ccwater.com/724"
Our summer swim season begins on June 10, and we invite the community to join us for recreational swim (with inflatables!), lap swim, swim lessons, and splash camps. You can find our full schedule in the latest activity guide and register for classes online.
