LARGO POLICE DEPARTMENT CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION RESCHEDULE TO FEB 24

The Largo Police Department is adjusting plans to avoid potential rain and ensure a successful centennial celebration. The community event, originally slated for Sunday, February 18, will now take place on Saturday, February 24, 2024, from 11am to 2pm at the Largo Police Department station located at 201 Highland Ave N. Largo Police assures the public that the rescheduling is merely a minor hiccup in their grand plans.

"We're just shifting gears a bit to ensure everyone can join in the festivities without any rain on our parade," said Chief Mike Loux.

Despite the delay, the event promises to be worth the wait. This free celebration is a family-friendly affair with activities for all. From face painting to photo booths and even free food, the community is in for a treat. The event will also feature station tours and demonstrations from the SWAT and K9 team, offering a behind-the-scenes look to leave you paws-itively impressed.

Join the Largo Police Department for a day filled with gratitude to honor the legacy of the Department and the strong bonds forged with our community over the past century. Here's hoping for sunshine and smiles on the new date.

LOVE IS LOVE COLOR RUN CANCELED

Unfortunately, the weather forecast for this Saturday's Color Run isn't in our favor. Despite our affinity for rainbows and rainstorms, the powder used in the run doesn't fare well with rain. As a result, we regret to inform you that this year's Love is Love Color Run has been cancelled. If you've already registered for the run, one of our team members will be reaching out via email to discuss your options, which include transferring your fee to the Shamrock 'N Run and After Party on Saturday, March 16 or receiving a refund. For more information, please email kpiehl@largo.com or call 727-587-6740 x5014.

TEAM MEMBERS CELEBRATE AT KEEP PINELLAS BEAUTIFUL'S ANNUAL AWARDS

This year, the City of Largo will work closely with the local nonprofit Keep Pinellas Beautiful to organize litter cleanups across the City and provide educational opportunities to increase awareness about recycling. In celebration of all the organization has done in Pinellas County in 2023, Largo team members attended an annual awards luncheon to recognize volunteers and partner organizations that go above and beyond to help Keep Pinellas Beautiful improve our environment. This work includes litter cleanups, trail adoptions, native tree and vegetation plantings, invasive species removal, and water testing for microplastics.

In the coming months, Keep Pinellas Beautiful will host litter cleanups at various locations in Largo. Stay tuned to the City's social media pages and eNews about upcoming services, programs, and events. Community members are encouraged to join us in renewing Largo’s environment by joining a cleanup or adopting their neighborhood.
