If there are any changes to this situation, an update will be provided. During this closure, 58th Street N is inaccessible to through traffic between Ulmerton Road and 142nd Ave N. Temporary traffic control measures have been implemented, and it is advised to adhere to the designated detour route. 1ST AVENUE NW ROAD CLOSURE UPDATE
Work on the 1st Avenue NW Reclaimed Water Main Extension Project continues. The current phase encompasses construction along 1st Avenue NW from Clearwater-Largo Road to 4th Street NW. Access to 1st Avenue NW is limited to local traffic only. The contractor is progressing block by block, implementing incremental road closures and aims to restore the road surface daily. Detour signs are in place to guide drivers. The construction will extend into Spring 2024, subject to weather and unforeseen events. Please follow the posted detours.
8TH AVENUE SOUTHWEST CLOSURE
Starting February 5, Pinellas County Public Works will temporarily close 8th Avenue SW, from Taylor Lake Park to Pinecrest Drive, for approximately 3-4 months. This closure is necessary for vital storm drainage improvements. The detour route for traffic will be West Bay Drive between 20th St NW and Clearwater-Largo Road.
Pedestrians and cyclists, be prepared that the detour route may sometimes parallel that of motorists. The goal is to maintain connectivity for walkers and cyclists, but there might be instances when the detour is as long as that of the vehicles. For more details, reach out to Brian Peddie at 727-464-8880 or bpeddie@pinellas.gov.

Repairs are being carried out as needed, with the contractor working diligently to finish the project promptly. The construction will continue for the next few months, and temporary traffic control measures are in place. Local traffic may encounter contractor activities on the road and sidewalks. For questions, please contact Largo Engineering at nshaw@largo.com or 727-587-6713 Ext. 4417.
